Single Cold Atmospheric Plasma Therapy May Improve the Treatment Outcome of Canine Otitis Externa With Secondary Infection

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 37, Issue 1, Page 103-110, February 2026.
Background: Otitis externa with secondary bacterial or yeast infection is a common problem in small animal practice. Cold physical plasma (CPP) has been reported to have antimicrobial activity in vitro. Results: Ears treated additionally with CPP showed lower otic scores after 21 days compared to nontreated ears, although this difference was not ...

A 14.7 kDa protein from Francisella tularensis subsp. novicida (named FTN_1133), involved in the response to oxidative stress induced by organic peroxides, is not endowed with thiol-dependent peroxidase activity. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Francisella genus comprises Gram-negative facultative intracellular bacteria that are among the most infectious human pathogens. A protein of 14.7 KDa named as FTN_1133 was previously described as a novel hydroperoxide resistance protein in F. tularensis

A Facile Eutectic Strategy for Scalable, Leakage‐Free Thermochromic Phase‐Change Composites Enabling Smart Temperature Labels and Secure Data Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 5, 27 January 2026.
A facile eutectic strategy is developed, guided by molecular dynamics simulations, to create leakage‐free phase change materials from lauric acid and sodium acetate trihydrate. These organic–inorganic eutectic composites effectively stabilize thermochromic dyes, yielding materials with exceptional shape stability and cyclically reversible color change.

Comparative Analysis of Recursive and Alternative Modelling Approaches Considering Body Condition Score for Genetic Evaluation of Mature Cow Weight

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 1, Page 92-104, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Mature cow size, often defined by mature cow weight (MWT), height (MHT) and body condition score (BCS), is crucial to cow‐calf profitability, maintenance efficiency and reproductive performance. Although MWT and MHT are often included in national cattle evaluations by many breed organisations, BCS adjustments are applied less consistently ...

Multiple Sustainable Practices Are Crucial for Enhancing the Provisioning of Agroecosystem Services Worldwide

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 28, Issue 12, December 2025.
We compiled 1570 observations from 57 countries to assess how the number of sustainable practices affects ecosystem services in cereal systems. We found that multiple practices are essential for improving soil health, yield and ecosystem resilience. Regions like North America, Eastern Europe and China were particularly dependent on multiple sustainable
