Development and Performance Study of Continuous Oil–Water Separation Device Based on Superhydrophobic/Oleophilic Mesh [PDF]

open access: yesNanomaterials
Oil–water separation is an important method for treating oily wastewater and recovering oil resources. Based on the different affinities of superhydrophobic surfaces to water and oil, long-term oil–water separation devices with low-energy and high ...

Wood Sponge for Oil–Water Separation [PDF]

open access: yesPolymers
In addition to filtering some sediments, hydrophobic wood sponges can also absorb many organic solvents, particularly crude oil. The leakage of crude oil poses a serious threat to the marine ecosystem, and oil mixed with water also generates great danger for its use.

On‐Demand Separation of Oil‐Water Mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, 2012
In this work, the first-ever membrane-based single unit operation that enables gravity driven, on-demand separation of various oil-water mixtures is developed. Using this methodology, the on-demand separation of free oil and water, oil-in-water emulsions, and water-in-oil emulsions is demonstrated, with ≥99.9% separation efficiency.
