Make‐Use‐Remake: Toward Indefinite Low‐Temperature Material Loops

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a regenerable materials platform built from microparticles bound by a temperature‐responsive polymer shell, enabling strong, processable structures from diverse feedstocks. The material is shaped at low temperatures (80°C) using common manufacturing methods and reprocessed repeatedly in the presence of water, demonstrating stable ...

Effect of surface wetting behavior of ceramic proppant on the two‐phase flow across the interface of sandstone and fracture

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2020
The objective of this study was to gain an understanding of water‐oil two‐phase flow from sandstone reservoirs to propped hydraulic fractures. The effects of PC (code for provider) oil‐wet and water‐wet fracture proppants on the competing flow of water ...

Mathematical Simulation of the Two-Phase Flow for Oil-Water Separation in Hydrocyclones

open access: yes
Abstract Hydrocyclones are devices used on offshore petroleum platforms to separate the water-oil system. They are applied in the second stage of separation, and their use in the first stage is also a viable option, as gravitational separators are inconveniently heavy, require too much space, and prolong the process.

Reconfigurable Au Nanoparticle Monolayers on Regenerated Cellulose Hydrogels: Highly Sensitive SERS Detection of Polystyrene Micro/Nanoplastics With Interpretable Deep Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A regenerated cellulose (RC) hydrogel‐based SERS substrate integrating a Marangoni‐transferred gold nanoparticle self‐assembled monolayer (Au‐SAM) is fabricated. Reswelling‐induced hotspot formation enhances polystyrene micro/nanoplastics (PS MNPs) detection in complex matrices, providing reproducible, high‐throughput SERS signals across diverse ...

Chitin‐Derived Carbon‐Metal Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Functional carbon materials are synthesized from combination of biopolymer (chitin) and iron precursors. The resultant material exhibits superior surface area and adsorptive properties compared to carbon materials synthesized directly from pure chitin.

Multidimensional Cellular Micro‐Compartments to Model Invasive Lobular Carcinoma Dormancy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC) is an understudied subtype of breast cancer that is susceptible to late recurrences. In this study, micro‐compartmentalization techniques spanning multiple dimensions, including 2D, pseudo‐3D, and 3D, are integrated to uncover the mechanisms underlying ILC dormancy, revealing the central role of p27Kip1.

Calibration of Mineralization Degree for Dynamic Pure-water Measurement in Horizontal Oil-water Two-phase Flow

open access: yesMeasurement Science Review, 2016
In order to solve the problem of dynamic pure-water electrical conductivity measurement in the process of calculating water content of oil-water two-phase flow of production profile logging in horizontal wells, a six-group local-conductance probe (SGLCP)

Hydrogel Microtube Drug Carrier for Catheter‐Based Intravascular Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This paper proposes hydrogel microtube carriers composed of barium alginate gel, enabling long‐term vascular retention without interrupting blood flow. Intravascular treatments have long been attracting attention for therapeutic efficacy, yet practical delivery methods remained unestablished.

Experimental Study of Oil–Water Flow Downstream of a Restriction in a Horizontal Pipe

open access: yesFluids
This work presents an experimental study on oil–water flow downstream of a restriction. The flow pattern, volumetric phase distribution, and their impacts on pressure drop are discussed. We employed two techniques to visualize the oil–water flow patterns,

Stability of Medicinal Nanoemulsions to Spaceflight: Insights From the StarMed Experiment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Chitosan‐coated melatonin nanoemulsions (MN) recovered from a sounding rocket mission preserve droplet size and controlled‐release behavior, whereas uncoated nanoemulsions show ageing‐driven droplet growth and increased accessible drug fraction. Simple polymer coatings thus enhance the flight resilience of liquid space medicines under cumulative launch
