In‐situ asphaltene capture with iron oxide nanoparticles in steam‐assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) for improved recovery and partial upgrading of bitumen

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 9, Page 4787-4808, September 2026.
Key improvements obtained by incorporating nanoparticles into a lab‐scale SAGD process configuration. The bar plots show enhanced oil recovery, reduced viscosity, and increased asphaltene adsorption in nanoparticle‐assisted scenarios compared with conventional SAGD.

Systemic Risk Transmission to Energy Futures: Weekend Information Gaps and the Breakdown of Pricing Efficiency

open access: yesJournal of Futures Markets, Volume 46, Issue 9, Page 1719-1747, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This study examines the efficiency of systemic risk transmission to international oil futures markets by analyzing the dynamic connectedness between three distinct Common Volatility (COVOL) measures: Energy, Asset, and Country, and compares such with five major oil benchmarks.

Artificial intelligence driven diet‐intestinal microbiota‐host health integration: A four‐dimensional paradigm for advancing host wellness research

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
This graphical abstract presents a novel Diet‐Artificial Intelligence (AI)‐intestinal Microbiota–Host Health paradigm integrating microbiota‐centric pathways and an AI‐driven multi‐omics workflow. Diet shapes gut bacteria that regulate intestinal mucosal integrity, immune signaling, and gut–brain neurotransmitters to influence host health.

Bacterial indole‐3‐butyric acid promotes fish PUFA synthesis

open access: yesiMetaOmics, Volume 3, Issue 3, September 2026.
Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are essential nutrients in aquatic products, yet the contribution of gut microbiota‐derived metabolites to PUFA biosynthesis remains largely unknown. In this study, a gut‐derived Bacillus strain was identified to enhance PUFA accumulation via indole‐3‐butyric acid (IBA) production.
