Effects of Carbon Nanoparticles on Triboelectro‐Induced Surface Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Carbon nanoparticles added to grease modify the electrocontact behavior. The synergy of particle concentration and electric current dominates the surface damage of metals in contact. Electrical surface damage caused by current leakage is a critical challenge in high‐performance applications such as electric vehicle (EV) drivetrains and wind turbine ...

Performance of jet- and inner-ring-lubricated 35 millimeter bore ball bearings operating to 2.5 million DN [PDF]

open access: yes
Parametric tests were conducted with a 35 millimeter bore, angular contact ball bearing having a single outer land guided cage. Lubrication was achieved by flowing oil through axial grooves and radial holes machined in the inner ring of the bearing. Test

2019 State-of-the-Science of Dispersants and Dispersed Oil (DDO) in U.S. Arctic Waters: Public Health and Food Safety [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Chemical dispersants were employed on an unprecedented scale during the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, and could be a response option should a large spill occur in Arctic waters. The use of dispersants in response to that spill raised

Hedging Effectiveness under Conditions of Asymmetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We examine whether hedging effectiveness is affected by asymmetry in the return distribution by applying tail specific metrics to compare the hedging effectiveness of short and long hedgers using crude oil futures contracts.

Evaluation of Thixotropic Models for Waxy Crude Oils Based on Shear Stress Decay at Constant Shear Rates

open access: yesApplied Rheology, 2010
Thixotropy is an important rheological behavior of waxy crude oils. The objective of this paper is to demonstrate existing model’s abilities to describe shear stress decay behaviors of waxy crude oils at constant shear rates.
