Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Extraction of Oil from Egyptian Oil Shale [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Petroleum & Environmental Biotechnology, 2015
Oil shales are defined as fine grained sedimentary rocks containing abundant mainly sapropelic organic matter which produce oil on distillation. The present study highlights the characterization of Egyptian origin oil shale using various analytical techniques such as Elemental analysis, Infrared spectroscopy (IR), and the Morphology Study of oil shale (

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

Model Formulation for Estimating Oil Extraction Rate to Measure Oil Extraction Efficiency in Palm Oil Mill

open access: yesJurnal Sistem Teknik Industri, 2023
FFB that has high HQE and FCI will determine the OER that will be obtained at POM, so that OER can be estimated using HQE and FCI, ie by calculating the oil content in FFB and the potential for oil loss in loose fruit that is not collected in the plantation area.

Optimizing the Oil Extraction/Water Adsorption Step in Sequential Extraction Processing of Corn [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The Sequential Extraction Process (SEP) uses ethanol to extract oil and protein from cracked, flaked, and dried corn, and the corn simultaneously dehydrates the ethanol.

Ultrasound increases the aqueous extraction of phenolic compounds with high antioxidant activity from olive pomace [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Olive pomace is a waste produced by the olive oil industry in massive quantities each year. Disposal of olive pomace is difficult due to high concentrations of phenolic compounds, which is an environmental concern.

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.
