Oils and Fluids for Hydraulics

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1971
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The methods of refining and treating petroleum fractions and the selection of appropriate additives and inhibitors to obtain a satisfactory oil for hydraulic applications are reviewed. The various physical and chemical properties of these oils and their significance in hydraulic systems are also presented.

Cold Region Hydraulic Oil Applications

International Arctic Technology Conference, 1991
ABSTRACT A literature search confirmed that the engineering design for machinery and systems used in cold region environments needs to include an evaluation of the hydraulic oil application. The process begins with a basic understanding of the terms absolute viscosity, kinematic viscosity, cloud point and pour point.

Reclamation of used hydraulic oil

Oil and Chemical Pollution, 1990
Abstract In an attempt to develop a nonpolluting method for used oil disposal, sharp sand bed filtration and the continuous elution technique were used on a bench scale to carry out the reclamation of used industrial hydraulic oils. Both processes gave quantitative yields of reclaimed oils.

Castrol's New Hydromul Hydraulic Oils

Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 1969
KNOWN as Hydromul 100 and Hydromul 68, these stabilized water‐in‐oil emulsions are designed for use as fire resistant hydraulic fluids. They are intended to be used in circumstances where the flammability of a conventional mineral hydraulic oil introduces an unacceptable risk, but where the relatively high cost of water/glycol, phosphate ester, or ...
