Fluoroelastomer Compatibility with Advanced Jet Engine Oils
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2001<div class="htmlview paragraph">Prevailing trends in aircraft turbine engine applications are pushing current elastomeric seal materials to their limits. These trends include the continued drive towards more powerful, lighter weight engines, with accompanying reductions in noise, emissions and fuel consumption, as well as ongoing improvements in ...

A Model for Jet Piercing of Oil Sands
Journal of Energy Resources Technology, 1985The impact of a stationary confined high pressure water jet on a solid surface has been investigated. Flow visualization by high-speed photography and measurements of average surface pressures show the action of the jet is to exert a series of discrete impulses rather than a steady force.

Jet-cooked starch-oil composite in polyurethane foams
Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1997A new jet-cooked starch-oil composite has been blended with a polyester polyol and then reacted with isocyanate to give a polyurethane foam. Infrared spectroscopy and microscopy have been used to examine the resultant products. Infrared spectra have shown the products contain the urethane structures and light and electron microscopy have shown the ...

Effective and Environment-Friendly Oil Removal with Microbubble Jet
Separation and Purification TechnologyEffective removal of oil contaminants from solid surfaces is crucial for various applications. However, traditional cleaning methods often involve the use of hazardous chemicals. Because of their stability and ability to adsorb pollutants, microbubbles are considered as a promising alternative for environmentally friendly cleaning.

SHALE OIL HYDROPROCESSING TO PRODUCE SYNTHETIC JET FUELS
Chemical Engineering Communications, 1988The crude shale oil fractions below 343°C available in the United States, (a) Geokinetics, (b) Occidental, (c) Paraho, and (d) Tosco II, were catalytically hydroprocessed at low, medium and high severities. The hydroprocessed oils were fractionated to the jet fuel cuts range of 121–300°C.

Exploring the complexity in an oil jet falling into an oil bath
2014An oil stream falling vertically into a stationary bath of the same liquid, if its flow speed is above a critical threshold, because of its viscous property, will induce a transition where a “cusp” on the free surface is “cracked” open by the jet. This industrially important phenomenon has been well studied.

Investigation of Jet Engine Oil Scavenge Pump Failure
2019Abstract An oil scavenge pump was found to have failed when a protective shear neck fractured during the start of a jet engine. Visual inspection revealed that the driven gear in one of the bearing compartments was frozen as was the corresponding drive gear.
