Strain‐Induced Failure Mechanisms of Silicon Oxide PECVD Barrier Coating Systems on PET: Experimental Analysis and Simulation of Crack‐Mediated Permeation

open access: yesPlasma Processes and Polymers, Volume 23, Issue 3, March 2026.
SiOₓ PECVD barrier coating systems on PET lose their barrier function at 5% strain (single loading) or 3% strain (cyclic loading). Simulations reveal that crack offset patterns can reduce permeation by up to 81% through tortuous path effects, though sub‐resolution defects significantly contribute to barrier failure.

Non‐Precious Metals Enhance Hydrogen Evolution in COF/Cd0.9Cu0.1S S‐Scheme Heterojunctions: KPFM Reveals Charge Transfer Pathways

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Photocatalytic hydrogen production from water splitting is a promising strategy for sustainable and clean energy generation. However, the design of low‐cost, highly active photocatalysts remains a critical challenge. In this study, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) were loaded onto the surface of Cd0.9Cu0.1S to fabricate COF/Cd0.9Cu0.1S ...

f‐Block Element‐Based MOF Thin Films: A Platform for Luminescence, Sensing, and Energy Applications

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 16, 17 March 2026.
f‐Block element–based metal–organic framework (f‐MOF) thin films offer exceptional potential for luminescent, sensing, and energy‐related applications. This review surveys recent progress in their synthesis, characterization, and functional implementation, emphasizing the diversity of available thin‐film fabrication strategies. The convergence of these

Trans‐reflective color filters with brilliant colors by integrating organic dyes with photonic crystals

open access: yesSmart Molecules, Volume 4, Issue 1, March 2026.
A novel trans‐reflective color filter design achieves high color purity, >70% transmittance, and exceptional UV/thermal stability by integrating dye‐doped polysulfone with photonic crystals, enabling advanced dual‐mode displays. Abstract Color filters are essential components for optical modulation.
