Abstract The oil palm, a widely studied species of palm, is a crucial source of edible oil and pro‐vitamin A carotenoids, primarily α‐ and β‐carotene. The diverse peel and pulp colors (yellow–orange–red) of various palm fruits suggest the presence of not only pro‐vitamin A carotenoids but also other bioactive carotenoids like lutein ...

Oil Palm Fruit Classification Using Spectrometer
Advanced Science Letters, 2013Artificial neural network and linear discriminant analysis were used to detect the ripeness of oil palm fruit bunches. The proposed classification scheme categorized the oil palm fruits into three classes, namely, overripe, ripe, and under-ripe. Fruit color, presumed to be an important indicator of the ripeness of oil palm fruits, was measured with the

Pulsating combustion of palm oil fruit bark
Fuel, 1992This paper describes the characteristics of palm oil fruit bark pulsating combustion. The fruit is abundant in the Brazilian state of Bahia and its bark is a residue available from the process of palm oil extraction. The residue is a potential alternative fuel for small energy generating units.

Fruiting Activity, Growth and Yield of Oil Palm. I. Effects of Fruit Removal
Experimental Agriculture, 1992SummaryThe relation between current yield and future yield components in the oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) was investigated by removing a proportion of inflorescences before anthesis. This disbudding caused mean fruit bunch weight to increase by over 60%, with corresponding increases in the components of bunch weight.

From Loose Oil Palm Fruits to Legitimate Palm Oil Value Chains: A Review
International Journal of Economics and Business Management ResearchLoose oil palm fruits are often treated as a narrow operational concern at harvest, yet recent literature shows they are a broader systems variable that connects ripeness assessment, labour use, free fatty acid formation, mill efficiency, smallholder income, certification feasibility, and sectoral legitimacy. This article develops a narrative review of
