Asymmetric effects of oil price fluctuations in international stock markets [PDF]

open access: yes
New evidence on the way oil price fluctuations affect international stock markets is provided in analysis of the exposure of 43 stock markets. Oil price spikes depress international stock markets, but oil price drops do not necessarily increase stock ...

Sustainable Catalyst‐Free PLG Networks: Recyclability, Biodegradability, and Functional Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A catalyst‐additive free covalent adaptable network is developed from star‐shaped poly(lactide‐co‐glycolide) cross‐linked with pyromellitic dianhydride, enabling internal carboxylic acid‐driven transesterification. The resulting biodegradable network exhibits mechanical robustness (Young's modulus ≈1.6 GPa), complete recyclability, rapid biodegradation

Bioinspired Stabilization of Fluorescent Au@SiO2 Tracers for Multimodal Biological Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a bioinspired stabilization strategy for fluorescent gold‐silica nanoparticles. Inspired by natural biosilica maturation, high‐temperature calcination transforms the silica shells, preventing dissolution in cell culture media and intracellular environments.

Analyzing the dynamics between crude oil spot prices and futures prices by maturity terms: Deep learning approaches to futures-based forecasting

open access: yesResults in Engineering
Predicting crude oil prices is critical due to their significant impact on the global economy. While numerous studies have focused on time series forecasting and machine learning methods to predict crude oil spot prices, the use of futures prices ...

The role of oil prices in monetary policy rules: evidence from 4 major central banks [PDF]

open access: yes
Recent movements in oil prices on international markets have generated many comments on the role that oil prices may play for Central Banks of oil-importing countries, oil price shocks being interpreted as supply shocks leading to higher inflation rates ...

Mechanoregulatory Effects of Cell‐Scale Microwells on Epithelial Cell Phenotype

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In small polycaprolactone microwells, A549 epithelial cells span well edges, in contrast to cells growing on flat substrates. Focal adhesion sites (yellow) concentrate at topographic boundaries, while cytoskeletal tension (magenta stress fibers) is transmitted to the nucleus (blue), reducing nuclear sphericity.
