Heavy Alkyl-Benzene Sulfonate-Controlled Growth of Aragonite-Based Polymorphic CaCO3 Crystals in Emulsion

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
The non-natural mineralization of CaCO3 with special structures or morphologies is generated during the migration of crude oil and is the main form of scale in alkaline/surfactant/polymer (ASP) flooding in oilfields, adversely affecting oil recovery and ...

Role of Horizontal Wells and Hydraulic Fracturing in Increasing the Efficiency of Oilfield Development Using the Example of Oil and Gas Production Department «Aznakayevskneft» Tatneft PJSC

open access: yesGeoresursy, 2017
At a late stage of development, with deterioration in the structure of reserves, the use of advanced technologies and development principles helps to maintain the level of oil production and fully develop reserves.

Testing the role of oil production in the environmental Kuznets curve of oil producing countries: New insights from Method of Moments Quantile Regression.

open access: yesScience of the Total Environment, 2019
The global economic growth has triggered the continual increase in oil demand for transportation and petrochemical sectors which offshoots environmental pollution.

High Oil Prices Give Alaskans a Second Chance: How Will We Use this Opportunity? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Think about this: 10 years ago, it looked as if Alaska was on the brink of a tough transition to a post-Prudhoe Bay economy. Oil production was half of what it had once been, the state’s oil revenues were about $2 billion, financial reserves were falling,

The water footprint of olives and olive oil in Spain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper evaluates the water footprint of Spanish olives and olive oil over the period 1997-2008. In particular, it analyses the three colour components of the water footprint: green (rainwater stored in the soil), blue (surface and groundwater) and ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

Prediction of Self-Flow Production in Segmented Hydraulic Fractured Horizontal Shale Wells Based on EDFM

open access: yesGeofluids
Terrestrial shale oil resources in China are abundant. However, its development in China is still in the early stages. And its scale of transformation and production systems is still being explored.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.
