Silver(I) pyridinyl complexes with benzothiazole, thiophene, and furan moieties: DNA/protein‐binding, antibacterial, antioxidant, and anticancer studies

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 356, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Nine Ag(I) complexes of Schiff bases containing thiophene, furan, and pyridine moieties were synthesized and tested for their in vitro antibacterial, antioxidant, and anticancer activities and DNA/bovine serum albumin binding. The nine Ag(I) complexes bound to calf thymus‐DNA by an intercalative binding mode, with the complex bearing a benzothiazole ...

IL‐33‐Induced TREM2+ Macrophages Promote Pathological New Bone Formation Through CREG1‐IGF2R Axis in Ankylosing Spondylitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies TREM2+ macrophages as key contributors to pathological bone formation in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). These macrophages mediate pathological new bone formation via the CREG1‐IGF2R‐PI3K‐AKT pathway and are regulated by IL‐33 through STAT6 phosphorylation.

SAR exploration of the non‐imidazole histamine H3 receptor ligand ZEL‐H16 reveals potent inverse agonism

open access: yesArchiv der Pharmazie, Volume 356, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
ZEL‐H16 (1) has been disclosed to be a high‐affinity non‐imidazole H3R (partial) agonist. However, it was found that 1 acts as an inverse agonist for Gαi in various assays. Concise structure–activity relationship studies, molecular pharmacology, and docking were used to shed more light on the properties of 1.

A water quality investigation around an oil refinery in Hungary using the Fontinalis antipiretica (HEDW.) as bioindicator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
In this study the aquatic moss Fontinalis antipyretica (Hedw.) was used to indicate the relative levels of water pollution by ten heavy metals: Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, V, Zn, Al, Fe and Pb at the territory of an oil refinery at the river Danube in Hungary ...

Generation of a High‐Precision Whole Liver Panorama and Cross‐Scale 3D Pathological Analysis for Hepatic Fibrosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using the MOSTtechnology and whole‐liver Nissl staining method, a multi‐structural 3D pathological panorama of liver fibrosis is obtained. The damaged sinusoids, steatotic hepatocytes, and collagen deposition are all concentrated in pericentral areas.

Multi‐Stimuli‐Responsive Circularly Polarized Luminescence with Handedness Inversion and Near‐Infrared Phosphorescence in Chiral Metal‐Organic Framework Platform for White Light Emission and Information Encryption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on three strategies including Dexter energy transfer (DET), [2+2] cycloaddition and Excited intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), a universal platform is built by using chiral metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) as host matrix to encapsulate guest emitters. NIR‐CPRTP, white CPL, and light‐, thermal‐ and excitation‐responsive CPL are achieved.
