Models for Oil Refinery Waste Management Using Determined and Fuzzy Conditions

open access: yesInf., 2020
This study developed models to solve problems of optimisation, production, and consumption in waste management based on methods of system analysis. Mathematical models of the problems of optimisation and sustainable waste management in deterministic ...

Removal of COD and SO42− from Oil Refinery Wastewater Using a Photo-Catalytic System—Comparing TiO2 and Zeolite Efficiencies

open access: yes, 2020
Advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have many prospects in water and wastewater treatment. In recent years, AOPs are gaining attention as having potentials for the removal of different ranges of contaminants from industrial wastewater towards water ...

Evaluation of different polymeric coagulants for the treatment of oil refinery wastewater

open access: yes, 2020
Wastewater from oil refinery industries has major pollution potentials with mutagenic and toxic compounds. Due to water scarcity in South Africa, oil refinery industries are compelled to find appropriate technology to treat their wastewater for reuse ...

Palm oil refinery wastes treatment [PDF]

open access: yesWater Research, 1981
Abstract Effluent from the refining of crude palm oil was subjected to physical-chemical and biological treatment. An inclined corrugated parallel plates oil separator spaced at 25 mm was used with hydraulic loading rates of 0.2, 0.5 and 1 m 3 m −2 -h. 91% oil and grease removal could be achieved at 0.2 m 3 m −2 -h.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Fouling and Rejection Behaviour of Ultrafiltration for Oil in Water Emulsion Separation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Oily waste water has been generated from food, automotive, metal processing industries as well as petroleum exploration and refinery. Polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membrane was investigated for treatment of oil in water emulsion.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.
