The Organization of Interaction Between Oil Refineries

Journal of the Operational Research Society, 1992
The paper deals with the appropriate form of interaction between two refineries with different demand patterns. This problem can be formulated as finding a decentralized solution of linear programming problems linked by buying and selling activities. The complete problem is first solved for central values of product demands and costs and revenues.

Hydrogen Production in Oil Refineries

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 2000
A source of hydrogen is one of the conditions for refining crude oil in existing and future refineries. In refining medium-sulfur crude oil, the hydrogen produced in catalytic reforming of naphtha cuts is sufficient for hydrotreating of straight-run light cuts.

Oil Refineries in the Netherlands

2001
The main aim of this paper is to describe and analyse the position of Dutch oil refineries on the process of industrial restructuring. This restructuring was triggered by changes in supply and demand in the European markets. The fact that oil refineries are seen as substantial polluters has also resulted in action by national and international ...

An oil refinery production optimization

2015 5th International Youth Conference on Energy (IYCE), 2015
This paper describes the structure of a complex oil refinery and its optimization model. The refinery has six distillation stages and ability to produce eleven products which can be sold on the market. Revenues are made by product trading. The production of oil refinery is optimized during one year period by taking into account the price of market ...

Material Flow Based Power Demand Modeling of an Oil Refinery Process for Optimal Energy Management

IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2019
Oil refining is an energy-intensive industry, that is often equipped with different types of distributed generation (DG) resources. Optimal energy management of the refinery's load and its DG resources, under dynamic electricity pricing, improves ...

Investigation of the properties of oil at the bleaching unit of an oil refinery

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2004
Color removal from neutralized sunflower oil was studied with different kinds of commercial bleaching earths. The effect of changes in time (25 and 35 min), temperature (80-125 degrees C), and bleaching earth dosage (0.1-0.9% by weight) on color, chlorophyll and carotene concentrations, and oxidation degree were investigated.

Modeling oil refinery operations

Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, 1985
Abstract This paper develops a model to analyze the relative responsiveness of refined petroleum product output to changes in the relative prices of these products. A scheme is devised and implemented that shares out total production into motor gasoline, distillate fuel oil, kerojet fuel, and other refined products.

Bioremediation of selenite in oil refinery wastewater

Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1995
Selenium-oxyanion-containing wastewater, with levels of selenite as high as 3690 μg Se/l and very low levels of selenate, was treated in a laboratory-scale biological reactor system inoculated with the selenate-respiring bacterium Thauera selenatis. The wastewater contained selenite that had been removed from refinery effluent wastewater using iron ...
