Reinforcement Learning Based Gasoline Blending Optimization: Achieving More Efficient Nonlinear Online Blending of Fuels [PDF]
The online optimization of gasoline blending benefits refinery economies. However, the nonlinear blending mechanism, the oil property fluctuations, and the blending model mismatch bring difficulties to the optimization. To solve the above issues, this paper proposes a novel online optimization method based on deep reinforcement learning algorithm (DRL).

Integration of Bio-refinery Concepts in Oil Refineries
In this work, the systematic integration of bio-refineries within oil refineries is considered. This is particularly relevant due to the lack of adaptation of existing refineries to diminishing oil supply. Moreover, the integration of oil and bio-refineries has a massively positive effect on the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Thermogravimetric monitoring of oil refinery sludge [PDF]
The present work has two dimensions: analytical and environmental. On the one hand we proved that thermogravimetric analysis can be used to perform fast characterization of oil refinery sludge. To this end, thermogravimetric curves were deconvoluted by using autocatalytic kinetics to take into account acceleratory phases in a thermal degradation ...

Biotreatment of oil refinery sludge
Utilization of waste materials generated in different industries is important from the points of ecology, economics and conservation of non-renewable resources. One of the main waste materials in petroleum industry is oil sludge, which is produced by the treatment of wastewater, from various refining and tank cleaning processes.
