On capturing oil rents with a national excise tax
This paper argues that since the supply of oil in the ground is inelastic, the incidence of a sales tax on oil, maintained forever at a fixed rate, would fall entirely on the oil-suppliers. In the world economy, however, the elasticity of supply of oil to a single country depends on that country's imports as a share of world output and on the ...

Destructive competition : oil and rent seeking in Iran
In countries with poorly developed institutions, rent seeking may impose serious costs for the economy. Our analysis demonstrates how rent seeking distorts the economy through two channels. First, there is the direct cost of the resources wasted in the rent seeking contest.

Abstract Remote sensing studies show that ephemeral forest regeneration is widespread in the tropics, limiting the climate and biodiversity benefits from net increases in forest cover. Socioeconomic, biophysical and landscape variables can help explain the spatial distribution of reforestation reversals.

Capsicum chinense as an African traditional vegetable: Culture, resilience, and opportunity
Capsicum chinense is central to everyday diets, cultural identity, and smallholder livelihoods across Sub‐Saharan Africa, yet remains overlooked in agricultural research and policy. This paper reframes C. chinense as a traditional, climate‐resilient vegetable shaped by centuries of farmer stewardship and cultural selection.

This study presents an alternative method to manufacture polymer‐bonded explosives by partially curing an HTPB‐based molding powder prior to compaction. The study shows that the length of partial cure time before compaction directly influenced the geometric fidelity, homogeneity, compressive strength, density, and internal microstructure.

Doxorubicin induces cardiac and skeletal muscle atrophy by upregulating E3 ubiquitin ligases, inhibiting myogenic regulatory factors, and activating necroptosis. Cardiac atrophy can further exacerbate cardiotoxicity. 6‐Shogaol negatively regulates these processes and attenuates doxorubicin‐induced cardiac and skeletal muscle atrophy.

Emulsion type governed the microstructure and functionality of papers coated with biopolymers matrix loaded with hydrophobic bioactives encapsulated into O/W emulsions. Emulsified systems improved UV–Vis barrier and antioxidant activity, whereas gelatin coatings with conventional or Pickering emulsions provided the greatest mechanical reinforcement ...

Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.
