Management of oil windfalls in Mexico : historical experience and policy options for the future [PDF]

open access: yes
The macroeconomic impact of commodity windfalls has provided fertile ground for research since the 1970s. Particularly affected are developing countries that rely heavily on commodity exports.

Capsicum chinense as an African traditional vegetable: Culture, resilience, and opportunity

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Capsicum chinense is central to everyday diets, cultural identity, and smallholder livelihoods across Sub‐Saharan Africa, yet remains overlooked in agricultural research and policy. This paper reframes C. chinense as a traditional, climate‐resilient vegetable shaped by centuries of farmer stewardship and cultural selection.

Mortality and Conflict in the Developing World

open access: yes, 2016
To varying extents, the world one is born into does not provide equal opportunities. This study measures the extent to which survivability across the developing world is affected by factors outside of the health and lifestyle choices one can make ...

Hydroxyl‐Terminated Polybutadiene‐Based Molding Powders as an Alternative Route for Manufacturing Pressed Polymer‐Bonded Explosives

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, EarlyView.
This study presents an alternative method to manufacture polymer‐bonded explosives by partially curing an HTPB‐based molding powder prior to compaction. The study shows that the length of partial cure time before compaction directly influenced the geometric fidelity, homogeneity, compressive strength, density, and internal microstructure.

6‐Shogaol Attenuates Doxorubicin‐Induced Cardiac and Skeletal Muscle Atrophy by Inhibiting E3 Ubiquitin Ligases and Necroptosis

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
Doxorubicin induces cardiac and skeletal muscle atrophy by upregulating E3 ubiquitin ligases, inhibiting myogenic regulatory factors, and activating necroptosis. Cardiac atrophy can further exacerbate cardiotoxicity. 6‐Shogaol negatively regulates these processes and attenuates doxorubicin‐induced cardiac and skeletal muscle atrophy.

Empirical Implications of Equilibrium Bidding in First-Price, Symmetric, Common Value Auctions [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper studies federal auctions for wildcat leases on the Outer Continental Shelf from 1954 to 1970. These are leases where bidders privately acquire (at some cost) noisy, but equally informative, signals about the amount of oil and gas that may be ...

Activating Paper Applying Gelatin, Starch and Chitosan Coatings Loaded With O/W Emulsions Encapsulating Rutin, Carvacrol and α‐Tocopherol

open access: yesPackaging Technology and Science, EarlyView.
Emulsion type governed the microstructure and functionality of papers coated with biopolymers matrix loaded with hydrophobic bioactives encapsulated into O/W emulsions. Emulsified systems improved UV–Vis barrier and antioxidant activity, whereas gelatin coatings with conventional or Pickering emulsions provided the greatest mechanical reinforcement ...

War and Natural Resource Exploitation [PDF]

open access: yes
Although the relationship between natural resources and civil war has received much attention, little is known about the underlying mechanisms. Controversies and contradictions in the stylized facts persist because resource extraction is treated as ...

Actuation Strategies for Underwater Jet‐Propelled Soft Robots

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This review article examines jet‐propulsion mechanisms in underwater soft robotic systems, focusing exclusively on physically fabricated and experimentally validated robots. Covering research published from 2013 to 2025, this study classifies and evaluates jet‐propulsion robots based on their actuation mechanisms.
