Interdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.Adolescent social isolation disrupts hippocampal function and exacerbates emotional symptoms, with sex‐specific patterns, as shown by human studies. In mice, social isolation decreased hippocampal synaptic density and calcium signaling, upregulated complement proteins, and activated complement‐mediated microglial synaptic phagocytosis.
