Influence of bioturbation by the polychaete Nereis diversicolor on the structure of bacterial communities in oil contaminated coastal sediments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Patterns of change in the structure of bacterial communities monitored by ribosomal intergenic spacer analysis (RISA) in oil contaminated sediments inhabited or not by the marine polychaete Nereis diversicolor were studied during 45 days under laboratory

A new oil spill detection algorithm based on Dempster-Shafer evidence theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Features of oil spills and look-alikes in polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images always play an important role in oil spill detection. Many oil spill detection algorithms have been implemented based on these features.

Vessel and oil spill early detection using COSMO satellite imagery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Oil spillage is one of the most common sources of environmental damage in places where coastal wild life is found in natural reservoirs. This is especially the case in the Patagonian coast, with a littoral more than 5000 km long and a surface above a ...

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.
