North Pacific-wide spreading of isotopically heavy nitrogen during the last deglaciation: Evidence from the western Pacific [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2008
Sedimentary δ15 N records in two IMAGES cores (MD012404 and MD012403) retrieved from the Okinawa Trough (OT) in the western North Pacific reveal deglacial increases with two peaks occurring during the Bølling/Allerød and ...

Right-lateral shear along the Northwest Pacific Margin and the India-Eurasia Collision [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
International audienceRight-lateral shear along the eastern margin of Asia, from the Eocene to the Present has led to the opening of pull-apart basins, intracontinental such as the Bohai basin, or oceanic such as the Japan Sea.

Millennial-Scale Planktic Foraminifer Faunal Variability in the East China Sea during the Past 40000 Years (IMAGES MD012404 from the Okinawa Trough)

open access: yesTerrestrial, Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, 2008
High resolution planktic foraminifer fauna assemblage data are used to reconstruct the millennial-scale sea surface temperature (SST) variability of the past 40000 years at an IMAGES core site (MD012404) in the Okinawa Trough in the East China Sea (ECS).

The complete mitochondrial genome of Paralvinella hessleri: an endemic species of deep-sea hydrothermal vent

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2019
Paralvinella hessleri is a terrebellomorphy polychaetae worm lives on the hydrothermal vents in the Okinawa trough and Mariana Back-Arc basin. We report the complete mitochondrial genome of P. hessleri, which is 16,978 bp in length, containing 13 protein-

Microseismicity of back‐arc rifting in the Middle Okinawa Trough

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1994
A one month microearthquake survey was conducted at Iheya Knolls in the middle Okinawa Trough in 1992 to reveal microearthquake characteristics of back‐arc rifting. We deployed five ocean bottom seismometers and observed over 1700 events during 30 days. Hypocenters were determined for 48 earthquakes with good resolution.

High-density surveys conducted to reveal active deformations of the upper forearc slope along the Ryukyu Trench, western Pacific, Japan

open access: yesProgress in Earth and Planetary Science, 2018
In this study, which was conducted to investigate present-day geological deformations occurring off the central Ryukyu Arc along the Ryukyu Trench (Okinawa-jima) in the vicinity of Japan, we obtained and examined dense, high-resolution, 2D grid (high ...

Active hydrothermal mounds in the Okinawa back‐arc trough

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1987
In the Okinawa Trough , which is the backarc basin of the Ryukyu arc, active extensional tectonics has been identified from graben morphology, shallow earthquakes characteristic of normal faults, extremely high heat flow, and young volcanism. However, except for the southernmost part, the back‐arc seafloor spreading stage has probably not been attained,
