Carbon‐Water Tradeoffs in Old‐Growth and Young Forests of the Pacific Northwest

open access: yesAGU Advances
Despite much interest in relationships among carbon and water in forests, few studies assess how carbon accumulation scales with water use in forested watersheds with varied histories.

Management of the Tongass National Forest in Southeast Alaska increases extinction risk of island endemics

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
After decades of clearcut logging the most productive old-growth forests, the Tongass National Forest developed a new forest plan in 1997 with expectations of maintaining viable populations of native wildlife species.

Beyond Conventional: A Review of Phytochemical‐Hydrogel Systems Enhanced by AI and 3D Printing for Chronic Wound Management

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review systematically bridges chronic wound pathology with natural phytochemical hydrogel therapeutics. A pathology‐to‐phytochemical mechanistic mapping framework is established, linking specific wound hallmarks to targeted phytochemical interventions.

SAT1‐Induced Spermidine Depletion Potentiates Food Allergy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Spermidine depletion, driven by upregulated spermidine/spermine N1‐acetyltransferase (SAT1), potentiates food allergy by promoting mast cell degranulation through autophagy suppression. SAT1 physically interacts with the long noncoding RNA Cdk19os to inhibit Atg5 and Atg7, disrupting autophagic flux.

Detaching Photosensitive Nanoparticles from Cells Prevents Them from Remaining in Cells after Photoporation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phenylboronic acid‐functionalized gold nanoparticles reversibly attach to cell‐surface glycans, enhancing photoporation‐mediated intracellular delivery. After irradiation, ATP competitively disrupts the boronic ester interactions and removes cell‐associated nanoparticles, markedly reducing residual gold.

Rewilding beech-dominated temperate forest ecosystems: effects on carbon stocks and biodiversity indicators

open access: yesiForest - Biogeosciences and Forestry
Maximising carbon stock and habitat availability is a critical objective of contemporary forest management, with primary forests serving a crucial function due to their substantial carbon storage potential and biodiversity values.

ROS/pH‐Responsive Phenylboronic Acid–Chitosan Nanoparticles Improve Silymarin‐Mediated Hepatoprotection After Hepatectomy With Gut‐Liver Axis‐Associated Responses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Bioactive phenylboronic acid–chitosan nanoparticles enable responsive silymarin delivery for post‐hepatectomy liver protection. The nanoplatform integrates antioxidant and antibacterial functions, improves hepatic recovery, and is associated with coordinated shifts in gut microbiota, metabolites, cytokines, and hepatic proteomic pathways, suggesting a ...

Fighting for the forests: a history of the Western Australian forest protest movement 1895-2001 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
As the first comprehensive study of Western Australian forest protest the thesis analyses the protest movement's organisation, campaigns and strategies. Its central argument is that the contemporary Western Australian forest protest movement established ...

Trophic position determines the persistence of neotropical understory birds after forest disturbance

open access: yesEcology and Evolution
Habitat loss and degradation are key drivers of the current biodiversity crisis. Most research focuses on the question of which traits allow species to persist in degraded habitats.

Epigenetic Silencing of CYYR1 Promotes Lung Adenocarcinoma Progression Through TRIM21‐Dependent Regulation of HMMR Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CYYR1 as an epigenetically dysregulated tumor‐suppressive factor that influences oncoprotein stability through TRIM21‐dependent HMMR regulation and reveals a potential therapeutic vulnerability in CYYR1‐deficient LUAD. The graphical illustration was created using FigDraw (www.figdraw.com).
