The Old Church Slavonic Academy and the Old Church Slavonic Institute

The Old Church Slavonic Academy was founded in Krk in 1902. It was incorporated into the croatian Theological Academy in Zagreb as its Old Church Slavonic department in 1928. It was only in 1948 that Msgr. Svetozar Ritig succeeded to revive the Old Church Slavonic Academy in Zagreb. The Academy was then renamed into Institute.
