Vortex lines or sheets - what is formed in dynamic drives?

open access: yes, 2001
In isotropic macroscopic quantum systems vortex lines can be formed while in anisotropic systems also vortex sheets are possible. Based on measurements of superfluid 3He-A, we present the principles which select between these two competing forms of ...

An Apple a Day Does Not Keep the Weevils Away: Enhancing Vine Weevil Monitoring With Fruit‐Based Volatiles

open access: yesJournal of Applied Entomology, Volume 150, Issue 2, Page 168-178, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Vine weevil (Otiorhynchus sulcatus Fabricius; Coleoptera: Curculionidae) is an economically important pest of soft fruit and ornamental crops worldwide. Despite extensive research over three decades, the development of an effective semiochemical lure to improve monitoring for this pest remains a challenge.

Producing Flexible Calcium Carbonate from Waste Paper and Their Use as Fillers for High Bulk Paper

open access: yesBioResources, 2023
Microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) was prepared from post-consumer old corrugated container (OCC) material, which was first disintegrated in water, cleaned to remove impurities, and then fibrillated by grinding.

Novel Antifungal Scaffold Targeting Tubulin Overcomes Sclerotinia Sclerotiorum Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
Addressing pesticide resistance, novel chromone‐acylhydrazone hybrids targeting fungal tubulin are synthesized. Compound G24 potently inhibited S. sclerotiorum (EC50 = 0.21µg mL−1) and demonstrated enhanced field performance via microencapsulation, offering a sustainable strategy against resistance and for global food security.

Uncovering the Key Factors Influencing Phytochemical and Phytopharmacological Properties During Medicinal Plant Processing

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2026.
From farm to pharma, this review details the engineering of quality in medicinal plants through a science‐driven approach: it first elucidates how genetic and environmental factors inscribe the plant's phytochemical and phytopharmacological profile before harvest, and then dissects the postharvest techniques and technologies—chemical and thermal pre ...

FRACTIONATION OF OLD CORRUGATED CONTAINERS FOR MANUFACTURE OF TEST LINER AND FLUTING PAPER

open access: yesCellulose Chemistry and Technology
Old corrugated container (OCC) pulp was fractionated and it was found that the longer fiber fraction represented 76.54% and the short fiber fraction – 21.3% of the OCC pulp. The fiber length was 1.22 mm for the long fiber fraction and 0.6 mm for the short fiber, which was longer and shorter, respectively, than the fiber length of the whole OCC pulp (0 ...

Isolation of bacteria from old corrugated container slime and characterization of their biofilm-forming properties

open access: yesBioResources, 2017
With the continuously increasing demand for paper and cardboard products, there is growing concern about the bacteria of the papermaking process. Bacterial growth not only affects normal manufacturing, but it also results in paper products with a total number of bacteria that exceeds the acceptable range, and thus poses a risk to the health of ...

Effects of Improved Tidal Mixing in NEMO One‐Degree Global Ocean Model

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Diapycnal mixing in the ocean interior has diverse numerical representations in current global ocean models. These representations affect the simulated transport and storage of oceanic tracers in ways that remain little studied. Here we present the impacts of three different tidal mixing representations in thousand‐year‐long simulations with ...
