Olecranon Fractures

The Journal of Hand Surgery, 2013
Olecranon fractures are common injuries of the upper extremity; majority are treated surgically. A variety of fixation techniques are available to surgeons in modern practice, but there is little comparative clinical research to guide one's decision. Nonetheless, good results over all are to be expected after surgical management.

Olecranon Bursitis Communicating With an Olecranon Cyst in Rheumatoid Arthritis

Journal of Ultrasound in Medicine, 2007
Nonseptic inflammation of the olecranon bursa is frequent because of its superficial location. 1 This olecranon bursitis can be due to variable causes such as trauma, overuse, inflammatory arthropathy, chronic degenerative osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and gout.2-4 A cyst (or geode) is a subarticular cystic lesion, and this is often seen ...

Endoscopic Olecranon Bursal Resection for Olecranon Bursitis: A Comparative Study for Septic and Aseptic Olecranon Bursitis

Experience with the McAtee olecranon device in olecranon fractures.

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1979
Treatment of olecranon fractures by prolonged immobilization often results in limited elbow motion. With the use of a compression screw apparatus, anatomical reduction was obtainable, and only a short period of immobilization was needed. In a series of eleven fractures there were no non-unions and an average decrease in elbow range of motion of only 8 ...

Olecranon fractures in children

Injury, 1975

These fractures are commonest at 5 years of age and are almost twice as common in boys as in girls. The fracture is usually undisplaced and incomplete; fractures in the long axis of the ulna (the 'longitudinal split' fracture) are not uncommon in ...
