Endoscopic Olecranon Bursal Resection for Olecranon Bursitis: A Comparative Study for Septic and Aseptic Olecranon Bursitis

The Journal of Hand Surgery (Asian-Pacific Volume), 2016
Background: Open excision of the olecranon bursa has been performed traditionally. However, surgical complications such as wound healing problems and recurrence may occur after the surgery. The purpose of this study was to report on the clinical outcomes of endoscopic olecranon bursal resection performed in both septic and aseptic olecranon bursitis ...

Intramedullary Fixation of Both Bone Forearm Fractures in Children and Adolescents: Healing Correlates With Development of the Olecranon Apophysis

Journal of pediatric orthopedics, 2020
Background: The purpose of this study was to determine whether healing of both bone forearm (BBFA) fractures in children and adolescents is associated with the stage of the olecranon apophysis development as described by the Diméglio modification of the ...

Inclusion of Olecranon Osteotomy With the Posterior Approach for Fixation of Distal Humerus Fractures (OTA/AO 13) Does Not Increase Surgical Complications

Journal of Orthopaedics and Trauma, 2020
Objectives: To determine if inclusion of an olecranon osteotomy to the posterior paratricipital approach for operative fixation of distal humerus fractures significantly affects surgical complication rates (OTA/AO 13).

Outcomes of displaced olecranon fractures treated with the Olecranon Sled

Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, 2018
Tension-band wiring is largely considered the gold standard for fixation of displaced olecranon fractures despite high rates of hardware complications. The purpose of this study was to report the outcomes of displaced olecranon fractures treated with the Olecranon Sled.We retrospectively reviewed all displaced olecranon fractures from 2011-2015 treated

Outline Shape Analysis on the Trochlear Constriction and Olecranon Fossa of the Humerus: Insights for Sex Estimation and a New Computational Tool ,

Journal of Forensic Sciences, 2019
Sex estimation through visual analysis of the distal humerus can contribute to establishing the biological profile of an unidentified skeletal individual. Using statistical shape modeling, the trochlear constriction open curves and olecranon fossa closed

Surgical Outcomes in Endoscopic Versus Open Bursectomy of the Septic Prepatellar or Olecranon Bursa.

Orthopedics, 2019
In this study, the authors investigated the viability of endoscopic bursectomy as a treatment for septic prepatellar and olecranon bursitis. Conventional treatment of septic bursitis consists of aspiration, antibiotics, and rest.

Fractures of the olecranon in children

Injury, 1980
Forty-nine fractures of the olecranon in children have been followed for up to 3 years after the injury. A notably large number (22) sustained associated injuries or complications which delayed or prevented a satisfactory outcome. Just over half of the whole series (27) achieved a satisfactory return to normal use within 12 weeks.

Olecranon fractures in children

Injury, 1975
A series of 40 cases of fractures of the olecranon in children under the age of 11 years is presented. These fractures are commonest at 5 years of age and are almost twice as common in boys as in girls. The fracture is usually undisplaced and incomplete; fractures in the long axis of the ulna (the 'longitudinal split' fracture) are not uncommon in ...
