How do forelimb long bones adapt in rhinoceroses? An in‐depth examination of their microanatomy
Here, we study the bone structure in the forelimb long bones of the five extant species of rhinoceroses. By combining traditional description of virtual sections made on the bones (A) with in‐depth cartographies of the variation of bone compactness and anisotropy (B), we show how bone tissue can adapt to extreme forces and constraints in the second ...

Mortality and subsequent fractures of patients with olecranon fractures compared to other upper extremity osteoporotic fractures [PDF]
Background: The incidence rate of olecranon fractures is highest in the elderly population. The aim of this study was to determine whether patients with olecranon fractures have similar demographic and risk characteristics compared to patients with ...

Our μCT‐based pilot study reveals size and shape disparity in the adult postcranial skeleton of growth‐hormone model (bGH) mice relative to wild‐type mice. bGH mice have larger and more sexually dimorphic bones, with a systemic radiodensity increase in bony sesamoids and associated, but typically uncalcified, soft tissues.

Morphometric and Paleobiological Insights Into Pleistocene Sicilian Wolf Populations
ABSTRACT The Pleistocene wolves (Canis lupus) from Sicily represent one of the few known insular populations of this species from that time period. Despite their potential relevance for understanding carnivore adaptations in insular contexts, no dedicated study has previously investigated their morphology and evolutionary significance.

Olecranon Fracture Fixation: Surgical Technique
Fractures of the olecranon occur from fall on the elbow or the outstretched hand resulting in eccentric contracture of the triceps musculature and subsequent avulsion of the proximal aspect of the ulna. These fractures are both inherently intra-articular

ABSTRACT Introduction Osteoporosis is a chronic skeletal condition that significantly affects daily life and may benefit from adequate self‐care. The Middle‐Range Theory of Self‐Care of Chronic Illness conceptualizes self‐care as a naturalistic process encompassing maintenance, monitoring, and management, also shaped by contextual and cultural factors.

Development and validation of a paediatric long-bone fracture classification : a prospective multicentre study in 13 European paediatric trauma centres [PDF]
Background: The aim of this study was to develop a child-specific classification system for long bone fractures and to examine its reliability and validity on the basis of a prospective multicentre study.

The effect of post-fixation olecranon lengthening on range of motion of the elbow: a cadaveric study
Background Principles of fixation of comminuted olecranon fractures include anatomical reduction of the articular surface and restoration of ulnohumeral joint motion. However, comminution sometimes may not permit anatomical fixation of fracture fragments,

Mapping method for coronoid and radial head fractures. (a) 3D CT images of coronoid and radial head fractures. (b) Reconstruction of the major fragments in mimics. (c) Reconstructed fragments were reduced, translated, rotated, and standardized in 3‐matic to best match the standard model. (d) Fracture lines were traced on the standard template. ABSTRACT
