Olecranon Process Fractures

2017
Tension band wiring of olecranon process fractures has been the mainstay technique for many years. Intramedullary fixation also has been successfully utilized and allows for early range of motion and functional restoration. Options less often used include fragment excision and advancement or nonoperative treatment.

Boxer's elbow: internal impingement of the coronoid and olecranon process. A report of seven cases

Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, 2017
Boxer's elbow has been described in the literature as an extension and hyperextension injury. However, in our experience, there is a coexisting impingement lesion in the anterior compartment of the elbow that has not previously been described. We report a series of professional boxers with elbow disease treated arthroscopically.

Boxer’s Elbow: Internal Impingement of the Coronoid and Olecranon Process

2019
Boxer’s elbow has been described in the literature as an extension and hyperextension injury. However, there is a coexisting impingement lesion in the anterior compartment of the elbow that has not previously been described. The aim of the chapter is to accurately describe the pathoanatomy of the condition, the key points in its diagnosis, and the ...

Fractures of the Olecranon, Radial Head/Neck, and Coronoid Process

2014
Olecranon fractures comprise 10 % of all upper extremity fractures [1, 2]. Due to its subcutaneous position, the olecranon is vulnerable to direct trauma. Internal fixation is the treatment of choice for most displaced fractures. Several techniques for osteosynthesis are available: tension-band wiring, intramedullary screw (with or without tension-band

FRACTURE-DISLOCATION OF THE CORONOID AND OLECRANON PROCESSES OF THE ULNA WITH POSTEROLATERAL DISLOCATION OF THE HEAD OF THE RADIUS

The Journal of Trauma: Injury, Infection, and Critical Care, 1994
An extremely rare fracture-dislocation of the elbow is presented in which the coronoid and olecranon processes of the ulna were fractured and the head of the radius dislocated posterolaterally. Roentgenograms are the key to diagnosis. Rigid internal fixation and early exercises resulted in a good functional result.

Functional anatomy of the olecranon process in hominoids and plio‐pleistocene hominins

American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 2003
AbstractThis study examines the functional morphology of the olecranon process in hominoids and fossil hominins. The length of the bony lever of the triceps brachii muscle (TBM) is measured as the distance between the trochlear articular center and the most distant insertion site of the TBM, and olecranon orientation is measured as the angle that this ...
