PROPERTIES OF THE OLFACTORY EFFERENT SYSTEM

Australian Journal of Experimental Biology and Medical Science, 1960

Gustatory and Olfactory Systems [PDF]

open access: possible, 1985
The taste receptors are the sense organs maximally sensitive to the chemical composition of foods as transmitted through direct contact. However, the eating experience represents a complex interaction of a variety of sensations in addition to taste. Food preferences, aversions, and desire reflect the joint influence of taste with the tactile, visual ...

The Olfactory System of Hagfishes

1998
A single anterior nostril situated above the mouth leads to the olfactory organ of hagfishes. The olfactory sensory epithelium is found just anterior to the olfactory bulb. The sensory cells are distributed on both sides of seven olfactory lamellae that are oriented in parallel to the median plane and attached to the dorsal roof of the olfactory cavity.
