Oligodontia in Danish schoolchildren
Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 2001Oligodontia is a rare condition, and only limited data are available on its prevalence. The present paper is based on data from Danish schoolchildren. When these data are combined with comparable data on Danish schoolchildren published previously by the senior author, it is shown that oligodontia occurs in 0.16% of the children (95% confidence interval,

Oligodontia in pseudoxanthoma elasticum
Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and Endodontology, 2007Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) is an inherited disorder that has both autosomal recessive and autosomal dominant pathways and is characterized by severe malformation of elastic and collagen fibers. Clinically, 3 main groups of systemic findings involving skin, eye, and vessels emerge in the symptoms.

Symptomatology of patients with oligodontia
Journal of Oral Rehabilitation, 1994SummaryThe aims of the present study were: (i) to identify the association of patterns of congenitally missing teeth with combinations of ectodermal symptoms occurring in patients with oligodontia; and (ii) to propose a diagnostic scheme for the general practitioner. For this study 167 patients with oligodontia, both isolated and as part of a syndrome ...

Mutation of PAX9 is associated with oligodontia
Nature Genetics, 2000We identified a frameshift mutation in the paired domain of PAX9 following genome-wide analysis of a family segregating autosomal dominant oligodontia. Affected members have normal primary dentition but lacked most permanent molars.

WNT10A mutations causing oligodontia
Archives of Oral Biology, 2019To identify the molecular genetic etiology of the families with non-syndromic multiple missing permanent teeth (oligodontia).Genomic DNA was isolated and measured, and whole-exome sequencing was performed. The obtained sequencing reads were aligned to the human reference genome and subsequently processed by a series of bioinformatics programs. Finally,

In every dental practice patients with oligodontia can be met. Oligodontia can occur solitary or as part of a syndrome. It is important for the dentist to be familiar with the various symptoms, including those of oligodontia as part of a syndrome.

"Oligodontia" is the absence of 6 or more teeth, except the third molars. Genetic factors are important in determining hypodontia: in fact, this is an autosomal dominant trait relatively common in population. In particular, the agenesis of lateral incisors is fairly common, with autosomal dominant and variable expression inheritance.

Las anomalías dentales son alteraciones que se producen durante la odontogénesis en la se afecta la forma, el tamaño, la disposición, el grado de desarrollo y el número de los dientes. Dentro de estas anomalías de número, la agenesia dental se presenta con frecuencia.
