Hypertrophy of the olivary nucleus
Acta Neuropathologica, 1986The fine structure of the hypertrophic olive is reported in a case of progressive supranuclear palsy, the cause of which would be attributed to extensive symmetrical lesions in the dentate nuclei of the cerebellum and central tegmental tracts of the pons.

Ubiquitinated eosinophilic granules in the inferior olivary nucleus
Neuropathology and Applied Neurobiology, 1990Ubiquitinated ìntracytoplasmic eosinophilic granules were found in the inferior olivary neurons of 99 normal individuals. The granules, ranging from 1 to 8 μM in diameter, were round and appeared in groups. Their number increased significantly with ageing.

Banding of rubro-olivary terminations in the principal inferior olivary nucleus of the chimpanzee
Brain Research, 1985An electrolytic lesion centered just dorsal to, and grazing the superior surface of, the rostral red nucleus (RNr) was produced stereotactically in a single chimpanzee. Perikarya of the ipsilateral RNr exhibited retrograde cell changes, demonstrating interruption of its efferent fibers.

Click-evoked potential map from the superior olivary nucleus
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1964Potential distributions in the superior olivary nucleus were mapped in response to ipsilateral and contralateral click stimulation. From the medial segment of the superior olivary nucleus a dipole field was recorded which reversed polarity and slightly shifted the zero isopotential on contralateral stimulation. On the basis of the anatomic arrangement

Field potentials in the cat medial superior olivary nucleus
Experimental Neurology, 1968Abstract This study shows that acoustic stimulation produces complex field potentials in the superior olivary complex. The contralateral and ipsilateral negative waves consist of a positive and negative component. The contralateral and ipsilateral positive waves frequently have two peaks.

SUPERIOR OLIVARY NUCLEUS, ITS FIBER CONNECTIONS
The Journal OF Nervous and Mental Disease, 1930The groups of experiments herein reported were carried out in order to determine what connection the superior olive makes with other centers through the olivary peduncle. An abstract of this work appeared in the Anatomical Record . 1 The experiments were undertaken with the supposition that the superior olive probably does send fibers into the ...

Pathological study of pseudohypertrophy of the inferior olivary nucleus
Neuropathology, 2010There have been only a few reports about the immunohistochemical study of pseudohypertrophy of the inferior olivary nucleus (PH-IO). We therefore performed the detailed immunohistochemical study of 10 PH-IOs in 8 patients to clarify the mechanism of neuronal degeneration and its related phenomenon of PH-IO.

Truncal Ataxia From Infarction Involving the Inferior Olivary Nucleus
Journal of Stroke and Cerebrovascular Diseases, 2012Truncal ataxia in medullary infarction may be caused by involvement of the lateral part of the medulla; however, truncal ataxia in infarction involving the inferior olivary nucleus (ION) has received comparatively little attention. We report a patient with truncal ataxia due to medial medullary infarction located in the ION.

The Medial Superior Olivary Nucleus
2018Abstract It doesn’t get any more precise than this: Neurons in the medial superior olive (MSO) in many mammals, including humans, are sensitive to temporal differences between their synaptic inputs of only a few microseconds. These neurons are the basis for our ability to resolve even a 5-μs disparity in the time of arrival of a sound at
