Persuasive channel choices: Evidence from manager–investor interactions

open access: yesReview of Financial Economics, Volume 44, Issue 3, July 2026.
Abstract Managers of public companies communicate with investors through channels such as conference calls and press releases. We develop a linear optimization model that predicts the optimal allocation of positive and negative information across channels, accounting for investors' limited processing capacity and channel‐specific cognitive costs.

Cloning and Expression Analysis of Cathepsin D in the Olive FlounderParalichthys olivaceus

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2009
We isolated a homolog of cathepsin D from the cDNA library of the olive flounder kidney. The olive flounder cathepsin D transcript consisted of 1,733 bp that encoded a polypeptide of 396 amino acids. The overall similarity between olive flounder cathepsin D and other cathepsin Ds was very high, with the highest amino acid sequence identity to ...

Anti‐Black Racism in Nursing in Canada and Black Nurses' Resistance: An Analytic Review of Newspaper Coverage, 1940s–2020

open access: yesNursing Inquiry, Volume 33, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Black women's participation in nursing in Canada has been marked by a long history of discrimination and exclusion, even after they were formally permitted to enter the profession in the mid‐1940s. Examining mainstream Canadian newspaper coverage, this study traces anti‐Black racism in Canadian nursing from the 1940s to 2020.

Harnessing the benefits of herbarium specimen digitisation for inferring recent and ongoing plant extinctions

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 2, Page 677-688, July 2026.
Summary Evidence for the ongoing biodiversity crisis rests on assessment of a small fraction of described species, with major knowledge gaps for most organisms, including plants. Here, we highlight how digitised herbarium specimens can be used to accelerate and improve estimates of recent and ongoing plant extinctions.

Effect of Recombinant Olive Flounder Stanniocalcin on Serum Calcium Levels

open access: yesKorean Journal of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, 2010
Stanniocalcin 1 (STC1) is a glycoprotein hormone that is important in the maintenance of calcium and phosphate homeostasis in both fish and mammals. STC1 and its paralog STC2 are expressed in multiple tissues in fishes, although the physiological roles of piscine STCs are still unclear compared with those of mammals.

A Non‐Reciprocal Architected Porous Medium

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 47, 11 June 2026.
ABSTRACT In several fluid flow, energy‐dumping, and energy‐harvesting applications, a dominant flow direction or dominant resistance direction is desirable. In this study, we propose a simple modular geometry that doubles flow resistance in one direction relative to the opposite direction, while maintaining laminar viscous flow.

The Bioconcentration of Naphthalene in Tissues of Juvenile Olive flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Society of Marine Environment and Safety, 2012
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) such as naphthalene, are released into the aquatic environment and have been identified as endocrine effects on marine organisms. Naphthalene makes up the highest fraction of PAHs in oil and shows the strong toxicity to aquatic organisms.

Mechanistic Insights and Engineering Strategies of Biomass‐Derived Carbon Anodes for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yescMat, Volume 3, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Sodium‐ion batteries (SIBs) have emerged as a compelling next‐generation technology to complement or replace lithium‐ion batteries, primarily due to their lower cost and enhanced safety features, positioning them as strong candidates for grid‐scale energy storage.
