Activism as a long durée journey: Teachers against the Chilean neoliberal education model

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract In this paper, I use the idea of purposes of education, particularly subjectification, and the concept of love to explore long‐term teacher activism in Chile. ‘Long‐term activism’ is used to describe an ongoing struggle rather than activism confined to specific moments.

Oviposition Deterrent Activity of Fungicides and Low-Risk Substances for the Integrated Management of the Olive Fruit Fly Bactrocera oleae (Diptera, Tephritidae)

open access: yesInsects, 2022
The control of Bactrocera oleae is fundamental to decreasing the significant production loss in olive cultivation. However, traditional containment based on the use of synthetic insecticides has been encountering serious limitations due to their negative

Beyond mammals: the evolution of chewing and other forms of oropharyngeal food processing in vertebrates

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Oropharyngeal food processing exhibits a remarkable diversity among vertebrates, reflecting the evolution of specialised ‘processing centres’ associated with the mandibular, hyoid, and branchial arches. Although studies have detailed various food‐processing strategies and mechanisms across vertebrates, a coherent and comprehensive terminology ...

Infestation of Olive Fruit Fly, Bactrocera oleae, in California and Taxonomy of its Host Trees [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The results of the trapping survey were analyzed to determine the taxonomy of various tree species infested by the olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae) in California. Since its first appearance in California in 1998, the olive fruit fly has spread from Los

Early evolutionary history of the seed

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The seed is an essential stage in the life history of gymnospermous and angiospermous plants, facilitating both their survival and dispersal. We reappraise knowledge of the evolutionary history of the gymnospermous seed, from its origin in the late Devonian through to the well‐known end‐Permian extinctions – an interval encompassing the ...

Exploring the Connection between the Occurrence and Intensity of “Grubby” Defect and Volatile Composition of Olive Oil

open access: yesFoods, 2023
In order to investigate the relationship between the occurrence of the “grubby” sensory defect caused by olive fruit fly (Bactrocera oleae (Rossi)) infestation and the resulting volatile composition, virgin olive oils were extracted from olives of the ...

Addressing the Attitude Behaviour Perception Gap—Multimethod Sustainable Tourist Behaviour Evaluation

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quantitative and perceptual studies have been used to define and model sustainable tourist behaviour in past years, but few studies have undertaken qualitative research of actual behaviour to delve deeper into understanding the different classifications of such behaviour. This research employed a three‐phase design, comprising a pretrip survey,

Survey on the control methods of Bactrocera oleae (Gmelin) in organic olive groves producing oil and table olives in Sicily [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In Sicily there are several organic farms producing olive oil and the number of farms has grown in the last years. The control methods of Bactrocera oleae (Gmelin) used by Sicilian organic farms were surveyed in 2004 and 2005.
