Spatial Engineering of Gas Diffusion Layers Overcomes Mass Transport Limitations in Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mass transport limitations at high current densities hinder polymer electrolyte fuel cell (PEFC) performance due to inefficient water management and reactant distribution. Gas diffusion layer (GDL) perforation offers a potential solution as an alternative to complex flow‐field modifications.

Laparoscopic Right Hemicolectomy in an Automated Peritoneal Dialysis Patient without Removal of the PD Catheter: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Surgery, 2014
Introduction. Laparotomy in patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD) is associated with an increased risk of morbidity. Furthermore, standard protocol recommends removal of the PD catheter when surgery on the intestine is required.

Combining Fret and Super‐Resolution Microscopy Reveals Kinase Activation and Mitochondrial Activity at the Nanoscale

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BioSenSRRF is an open‐source workflow that combines conventional FRET biosensors with SRRF reconstruction to generate sub‐diffraction FRET index maps on standard microscopes. The pipeline integrates automated image registration, SRRF reconstruction, quantitative FRET index calculation, and random line‐based hotspot analysis to uncover AURKA‐dependent ...

Exploiting Temperature Effects for Robust Control and Reference Circuits Using Thin‐Film Contact‐Controlled Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Compact circuits based on contact‐controlled transistors are well‐suited to unsupervised thermal management, sensitive temperature measurement, or temperature‐stable current references. Demonstrated on flexible microcrystalline silicon and supported by simulation, the approach does not require supply voltage regulation, remains manufacturable across ...

Spectral Properties of Marennine-like Pigments Reveal Minor Differences Between Blue Haslea Species and Strains

open access: yesMolecules
Marennine is the specific bluish pigment produced by the marine diatom Haslea ostrearia Gaillon (Simonsen), responsible for the greening of oysters in France’s Atlantic coast. For decades, H. ostrearia was considered the only blue diatom and described as

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

The IL‐10/IL‐6 Ratio and the Risk Score: Two Cytokines‐Based Predictors for Malignancy‐Associated Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis in Adults (M‐HLHa)

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The predictive value of cytokines (CK) for malignancy‐associated adult hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (M‐HLHa) remains uncertain. We evaluated a cytokine‐based Risk Score (RS) and the IL‐10/IL‐6 Ratio to predict M‐HLHa. Adult patients (n = 112) from the French HLH cohort (NCT02113917) with complete data for nine key HLH related CK measured
