Spectral Deconvolution Analysis of Mafic Mineral in Irregular Mare Patches on the Moon

open access: yesJournal of Astronomy and Space Sciences, 2022
Irregular mare patches (IMPs), recently discovered on the Moon, are eruptions of magma on the lunar surface, and their origins are still in question. While prior studies on IMPs have mainly focused on optical image analysis, in this study, an analysis ...

Ultramafic xenoliths from the Bearpaw Mountains, Montana, USA: evidence for multiple metasomatic events in the lithospheric mantle beneath the Wyoming craton [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Ultramafic xenoliths in Eocene minettes of the Bearpaw Mountains volcanic field (Montana, USA), derived from the lower lithosphere of the Wyoming craton, can be divided based on textural criteria into tectonite and cumulate groups. The tectonites consist

Experimental constraints on amphibole stability in primitive alkaline and calc-alkaline magmas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Equilibrium crystallization experiments were carried out on two primitive basaltic rocks (APR16: Na2O+K2O=4.40 wt%; CM42: Na2O+K2O=2.59 wt%) with the aim to investigate the amphibole stability in the differentiation processes at deep crustal level, of

Ag‐Embedded Carbon Nanotube Bucky Papers for Lithium Metal Full Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
The lithiophilic 3D carbon host is fabricated with multi‐walled carbon nanotubes and silver nitrate as an Ag precursor for the Li metal anode, which provides a conductive pathway and site for high Li affinity. Owing to lowered Li nucleation overpotential and uniform Li deposition, the Li@Ag/MCBP–10 with variable cathode exhibits enhanced cycle ...

Microwave‐Assisted Surfactant‐Engineering Approach for Rapid Synthesis of Lithium–Manganese‐Rich Oxide Cathode for Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
A rapid coprecipitation process combining microwave irradiation and surfactant is used to synthesize high‐capacity lithium–manganese‐rich oxide cathode for lithium batteries. Surfactant micelles provide morphology control and microwave boosts the reaction time.

Serpentinization of olivine in troctolites and olivine gabbros from the Hess Deep Rift

open access: yesLithos, 2017
Abstract To understand the similarity and diversity of serpentinization processes in different rock systems, gabbroic rocks recovered from IODP Site U1415 at the Hess Deep Rift were examined and compared with peridotites from the adjacent ODP Site 895.

LiMnxFe1−XPO4 Anodefree Batteries: A Scalable, Low Cost, Energy Dense Lithium Cell Design

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, EarlyView.
The development of next‐generation lithium batteries with even greater performance (storage capacity and lifetime) is required to open up new (demanding) applications such as electric aircraft and drones. In this study, we show that the anodefree LiMnxFe1−xPO4 cell design dramatically improves energy density while reducing manufacturing cost and design

Signal to Noise Ratio and Spectral Sampling Constraints on Olivine Detection and Compositional Determination in the Intermediate Infrared Region: Applications in Planetary Sciences

open access: yesEarth and Space Science
Spectral features of olivine across the intermediate infrared region (IMIR, 4–8 μm) shift systematically with iron‐magnesium content, enabling determination of olivine composition.
