Benefits of laparoscopic liver resection for liver tumors in obese patients: a meta-analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
ObjectiveThe superiority of laparoscopic liver resection (LLR) and open liver resection (OLR) in obese patients remains controversial. The study aims to assess the available literature and compare the perioperative outcomes of LLR and OLR for liver ...

Lipid Profile and Metabolic Syndrome Status in Patients with Oral Lichen Planus, Oral Lichenoid Reaction and Healthy Individuals Attending a Dental College in Northern India - A Descriptive Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2014

Demographic Analysis of the Sun Protective Behaviours and Skin Cancer Risk of Victorian Farmers

open access: yesAustralasian Journal of Dermatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Farmers have an elevated risk of melanoma and non‐melanoma skin cancer due to their occupational exposure to high levels of ultraviolet radiation. The sun protective behaviours of farmers are poorly understood, limiting targeted interventions to this at‐risk population.

Ocean literacy research community: co-identifying gaps and priorities to advance the UN Ocean Decade

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
IntroductionThe overarching goal of the UN Ocean Decade is to “change humanity's relationship with the ocean.” While this may be a challenge, it is, at the same time, a once in a generation opportunity. How can 8 billion people, including those who don't

IL‐33 Drives Inflammatory Changes and Extracellular Trap Formation in Eosinophils Involving Oxidised LDL and Complement Pathways

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
IL‐33 induces inflammatory gene signatures in eosinophils, characterised by the upregulation of cell surface markers, inflammatory mediators and regulatory factors, all of which were also observed in nasal polyp‐derived eosinophils. Ox‐LDL and complement fragments (C3a and C5a) promote eosinophil adhesion and survival.

Latitudinal differences of changes in Northern Hemisphere clear-sky outgoing longwave radiation over the past 4 decades (1979–2021)

open access: yesEnvironmental Research Letters
Earth’s energy budget is modulated by climate forcings and feedbacks. Outgoing longwave radiation (OLR) is a critical component of the Earth’s energy budget, and the balance between absorbed solar radiation and OLR determines the net gain of energy of ...

Between Safeguard and Constraint: Navigating Patient Autonomy in Protective Laws for Medical Assistance in Dying

open access: yesBioethics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT There has been an increase in the number of jurisdictions legalizing or decriminalizing Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Legal frameworks worldwide strive to balance respect for autonomy with regulatory safeguards that both operationalize voluntary choice and prevent access to MAiD in cases of remediable despair or coerced decision‐making ...

Oral lichen planus and oral lichenoid reaction - an update

open access: yesActa Clinica Croatica, 2015
Oral lichen planus (OLP) and oral lichenoid reaction (OLR) are clinically and histopathologically similar diseases. Whereas OLP is a consequence of T cell mediated autoinflammatory process to a still unknown antigen, OLR might be caused by drugs, dental ...

Neutrophil‐Macrophage Interactions Shape Inflammatory Macrophage Remodeling in Gastric Cancer During Chemo‐Immunotherapy

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
PD‐1 blockade combined with chemotherapy induces MHC‐II+ inflammatory neutrophils in gastric cancer, which engage in dynamic crosstalk with macrophages to remodel the tumor microenvironment toward a pro‐inflammatory state, thereby amplifying antitumor immune responses.
