EPO‐R: An efficient garbage collection scheme for long‐term transactions

open access: yesConcurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, Volume 36, Issue 17, 1 August 2024.
Summary This article proposes EPO‐R, which is an efficient garbage collection scheme designed for multi‐version concurrency control (MVCC) protocols. MVCC generates a version for each update operation, and it can exhaust physical memory for dynamically changing environments such as IoT payments.

GalOP: Towards a GPU-Accelerated OLTP DBMS

open access: yes, 2021
In this paper, we present GalOP - a GPU-accelerated main memory DBMS for OLTP. At the core GalOP is based on a novel deterministic concurrency scheme for GPUs which orders conflicting transactions before the execution on the GPU.

SQL and NoSQL Database Software Architecture Performance Analysis and Assessments—A Systematic Literature Review

open access: yesBig Data and Cognitive Computing, 2023
The competent software architecture plays a crucial role in the difficult task of big data processing for SQL and NoSQL databases. SQL databases were created to organize data and allow for horizontal expansion. NoSQL databases, on the other hand, support

Osteochondral lesion of the tibial plafond treated with a retrograde osteochondral autograft: a report of two cases

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation and Technology, 2017
Background: Osteochondral lesions (OCLs) of the tibial plafond (OLTPs) are rare, and few studies provide treatment recommendations. We describe two cases of an OLTP that were treated with retrograde osteochondral autograft.

Bone Marrow Stimulation for Osteochondral Lesions of the Tibial Plafond Yields Good Patient‐Reported Outcomes in Daily Living but Moderate Outcomes in Sports Activities at 2‐ to 22–Years Follow‐Up

open access: yesArthroscopy, Volume 40, Issue 3, Page 910-918.e2, March 2024.
Purpose To assess the patient‐reported outcomes, as well as the revision and complication rates, of patients who underwent arthroscopic bone marrow stimulation (BMS) for an osteochondral lesion of the tibial plafond (OLTP). Methods Patients with an OLTP treated with arthroscopic BMS at a minimum follow‐up of 2‐years were cross‐sectionally included from

Data Mining on an OLTP System (Nearly) for Free

open access: yes, 2000
This paper proposes a scheme for scheduling disk requests that takes advantage of the ability of high-level functions to operate directly at individual disk drives. We show that such a scheme makes it possible to support a Data Mining workload on an OLTP

Benchmarking hybrid OLTP&OLAP database systems

open access: yes, 2011
Recently, the case has been made for operational or real-time Business Intelligence (BI). As the traditional separation into OLTP database and OLAP data warehouse obviously incurs severe latency disadvantages for operational BI, hybrid OLTP&OLAP database
