Transcriptomic profiling of human endothelial cells infected with venezuelan equine encephalitis virus reveals NRF2 driven host reprogramming mediated by omaveloxolone treatment

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
IntroductionVenezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus (VEEV) is a mosquito-borne alphavirus that causes neurotropic disease with significant morbidity and mortality, especially in children. While interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) are central to host defense,

A Clearer Picture: Using Fetal MRI to Diagnose Neck Masses and Predict Airway Compromise

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, Volume 46, Issue 3, Page 339-347, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Fetal neck masses are rare but can be life‐threatening if causing airway compromise. Early and accurate diagnosis of these masses allows life‐saving interventions to be undertaken at birth in the form of the EXIT procedure. Methods A single institution case series of all patients referred for fetal MRI to a tertiary center in the ...

Association Between Patient-Reported Pain and Remission or Low Disease Activity in Patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis: Data from RA-BE-REAL Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesRheumatology and Therapy
Introduction We aim to assess the association of patient-reported pain and remission or low disease activity (LDA) at 3 months (M) in patients receiving baricitinib or other treatments in RA-BE-REAL. Methods RA-BE-REAL reports on patients with rheumatoid

Comparative efficacy of seed biopriming and soil drenching with Bacillus altitudinis TM22 and Bacillus atrophaeus MCM61 on the suppression of Fusarium wilt of cotton

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 3, Page 2424-2445, March 2026.
Co‐application of Bacillus strains TM22 and MCM61 suppressed Fusarium wilt of cotton. Seed biopriming with Bacillus strains performed better than soil drenching. TM22 + MCM61 improved vegetative and physiological aspects in cotton plants. TM22 + MCM61 enhanced the activity of defense enzymes and defense gene expression.

Peripheral microvessel area better predicts the severity of coronary stenosis of acute myocardial infarction patients over pulse wave velocity

open access: yesScientific Reports
Microvascular obstruction (MVO) is linked with adverse clinical outcome in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients, therefore, early prediction of MVO with non-invasive peripheral microcirculation is crucial in facilitating optimal treatment.

Lived Experiences of Deathcare Workers in Managing Infectious Dead Bodies

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 1, March 2026.
Deathcare workers in this study lack the necessary resources, training, and skills to safely manage infectious dead bodies. Consequently, the workers are exposed to infection and various types of psychosocial hazards, including heavy workload and unsanitary work environments.

Marine Snow Dynamics in the NE Gulf of Mexico: Particle Abundance, Characteristics, and Impacts on Deepwater Horizon Oil Sedimentation

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract The Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill in the NE Gulf of Mexico in 2010 was the largest accidental spill globally. During and after the spill, oil was incorporated into marine snow (marine‐oil‐snow or MOS) and sedimented to the seafloor, accounting for ∼21% of the oil released.

Acepromazine Reduces Airway Contraction in a Murine Model of Asthma

open access: yesClinical and Experimental Pharmacology and Physiology, Volume 53, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Acepromazine (ACP) is one of the most used sedatives in veterinary medicine, and its cardiovascular effects are well documented. In contrast, its effects on the respiratory system remain less well understood, particularly in the context of assessment of respiratory mechanics in murine models of asthma, where its use has become more common in ...

Dysbiosis‐Mediated Inflammation: A Pathophysiological Link Between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Periodontitis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Periodontology, Volume 53, Issue 3, Page 466-477, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Aim To explore mechanistic links between rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and periodontitis (PD) through the lens of subgingival microbial dysbiosis–mediated inflammation. Methods Subgingival plaque from 100 volunteers with RA and PD (RAPD), 22 with RA (RAnoPD), 18 with PD (PDnoRA) and 19 healthy controls (noRAnoPD) was analysed using 16S‐amplicon ...
