Recurrent Asthma Exacerbations Secondary to Gastric Stenosis After Gastric Band Slippage: Case Report and Literature Review

We present a patient with long‐standing severe Type 2 asthma complicated by recurrent exacerbations of an infective nature that was ultimately found to be associated with gastric band slippage causing gastric stenosis and delayed gastric emptying. Exacerbations ceased after surgical intervention and removal of the band.

Innumerable small oval cystic structures were identified in the peritoneal cavity of a young dog presenting with abdominal distension and weight gain. A combination of diagnostics confirmed these structures as Spirometra mansoni plerocercoids and established a diagnosis of proliferative sparganosis.
