The greater omentum and similar serous formations of testis in male white rats

open access: yesFolia Morphologica, 2023
BACKGROUND: The greater omentum of white rats appears, in basic morphological features (in miniature), to be homologous to the greater omentum of humans. We study of the greater omentum reaction to the catgut implant.

Immune mechanisms in the pathogenesis of acute peritonitis G.V. Bulava

open access: yesТрансплантология (Москва), 2023
Acute inflammation of the peritoneum – peritonitis – often develops after injury to hollow visceral organs, intestinal necrosis, failure of anastomosis, or tumor processes. Subsequent microbial contamination of the abdominal cavity leads to infection, in

Omental Torsion and Infarction with Right Inguinal Hernia: A Case Report

open access: yes대한영상의학회지, 2017
Omental torsion and infarction are rare causes of acute abdominal pain, and it is often difficult to diagnose these conditions preoperatively. There are several reports showing that computed tomography is useful to diagnose these conditions.

Effects of Schistosomal mansoni infection on Calomys callosus coelom-associated lymphomyeloid tissue (milky spots)

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1998
Calomys callosus Rengger, 1830 (Rodentia: Cricetidae) is a mouse-like South American wild rodent, which is permissive to Schistosoma mansoni infection. In this paper we studied the effect of schistosomal infection in C.

Omental and pleural milky spots: different reactivity patterns in mice infected with Schistosoma mansoni reveals coelomic compartmentalisation

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2010
In vertebrate animals, pleural and peritoneal cavities are repositories of milky spots (MS), which constitute an organised coelom-associated lymphomyeloid tissue that is intensively activated by Schistosoma mansoni infection.

Immunological Functions of the Omentum [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Immunology, 2017
The omentum is a visceral adipose tissue with unique immune functions. Although it is primarily an adipose tissue, the omentum also contains lymphoid aggregates, called milky spots (MSs), that contribute to peritoneal immunity by collecting antigens, particulates, and pathogens from the peritoneal cavity and, depending on the stimuli, promoting a ...

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
