Variable Selection in Multistate Models for Correlated Data With Application in a COVID‐19 Vaccination Study

open access: yesStatistics in Medicine, Volume 45, Issue 13-14, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Depicting patient transitions among multiple clinical states is a common objective in health services and epidemiological research. Multistate models (MSM) are the primary analytical approach used in such studies. Although the structure of an MSM is typically determined by the research questions of a specific application, models are typically ...

Tautomerism‐Governed Two‐Proton‐Coupled Electron Transfer in the Oxidation of a Molnupiravir by Electrogenerated Superoxide Radical Anion in N,N‐Dimethylformamide

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 21, 4 June 2026.
Tautomerization‐assisted oxidation of molnupiravir by superoxide (O2•−) in aprotic DMF. The thermodynamically favored oxime tautomer of the N4‐hydroxycytosine moiety forms a prereactive complex (PRC) with O2•− through hydrogen‐bonding interactions.

Nanobodies: A Promising Toolkit for Diagnostic Applications

open access: yesSmartMat, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
This review focuses on camelid‐derived nanobodies (VHHs) and explains how their small size and high stability support robust diagnostic design. Applications across ELISA, lateral flow assays, and PET/SPECT imaging are summarized, along with clinical progress such as caplacizumab.

Assessing the Impact of Wastewater Flow Rates on SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA Detection: Insights for Environmental Surveillance and Policymaking

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 4, Summer 2026.
We meta‐analyzed 10 studies to assess whether influent flow rate affects SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA detection in wastewater treatment plants serving ≤60,000 inhabitants. The pooled odds ratio (2.08; 95% CI: 0.994–37; p = 0.053) showed no significant association between flow rate and detection probability.

Association of Body Mass Index with SARS‐CoV‐2 Infection in Inflammatory Arthritis Patients Receiving Biologic Therapy: Singapore National Biologics Register Findings

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rheumatic Diseases, Volume 29, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To determine the association of body mass index (BMI) with incident COVID‐19 infection in patients with inflammatory arthritis (IA) using biologic disease‐modifying anti‐rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs) and targeted synthetic DMARDs (tsDMARDs) and to describe characteristics of patients with severe COVID‐19 infection. Methods This prospective
