Boosting large‐scale river connectivity restoration by planning for the presence of unrecorded barriers

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 37, Issue 3, June 2023., 2023
Abstract Conservation decisions are invariably made with incomplete data on species’ distributions, habitats, and threats, but frameworks for allocating conservation investments rarely account for missing data. We examined how explicit consideration of missing data can boost return on investment in ecosystem restoration, focusing on the challenge of ...

Students as consumers? The perspectives of students' union leaders across Europe

open access: yesHigher Education Quarterly, Volume 76, Issue 3, Page 626-637, July 2022., 2022
Abstract Various scholars have argued that higher education is becoming increasingly similar across Europe as a result of processes of marketisation and neo‐liberalisation, as well as the creation of a European Higher Education Area. While much of this body of work has focussed on governance, institutional structures and reforms related to teaching and

Translating habitat class to land cover to map area of habitat of terrestrial vertebrates

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 36, Issue 3, June 2022., 2022
Abstract Area of habitat (AOH) is defined as the “habitat available to a species, that is, habitat within its range” and is calculated by subtracting areas of unsuitable land cover and elevation from the range. The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Habitats Classification Scheme provides information on species habitat ...

Matching expert range maps with species distribution model predictions

open access: yesConservation Biology, Volume 34, Issue 5, Page 1292-1304, October 2020., 2020
Abstract Species’ range maps based on expert opinion are a critical resource for conservation planning. Expert maps are usually accompanied by species descriptions that specify sources of internal range heterogeneity, such as habitat associations, but these are rarely considered when using expert maps for analyses.

Effect of omission of surgery on survival in patients aged 80 years and older with early‐stage hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer

open access: yesBJS (British Journal of Surgery), Volume 107, Issue 9, Page 1145-1153, August 2020., 2020
Although the selection criteria for omission of surgery in early‐stage breast cancer are ill defined in guidelines, the percentage of patients receiving surgical treatment declines in older age groups. This study evaluated the effect of omission of surgery on survival in patients aged 80 years and older.

open access: yesPolitics &Policy, Volume 53, Issue 6, December 2025.
ABSTRACT This article reviews political regime classification in the context of contemporary debates.
