Towards a theory of presence

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
Abstract The present paper presents a new (formal) theory of presence according to which, roughly, to be present at a place is to have a delegate located at that place. One crucial feature of the theory is that something can be present at a place without thereby being located there.

De novo or Salvage? Nucleotide Availability as a Driver of Bacterial Adaptation and Virulence

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 4, August 2026.
Bacterial pathogens survive in different host environments by switching between making nucleotides by de novo synthesis and scavenging them from the host. This flexibility supports growth and virulence making nucleotide metabolism an attractive therapeutic target.

Deep Convective Trace Gas Transport to the UTLS: Highlighting Remote Sensing and Modeling Challenges With ACCLIP Campaign In Situ CO Observations

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract China is a major source of anthropogenic emissions, with important implications for chemical composition and aerosol processes in the upper troposphere and lower stratosphere (UTLS), particularly within the Asian Summer Monsoon (ASM) anticyclone.

Primary productivity coupled to oxic methane production in coastal waters of southern China

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Oxic methane (CH4) production (OMP) occurs in diverse oxygenated surface waters worldwide. However, phytoplankton‐driven OMP in natural marine environments remains poorly documented. During a research cruise in the highly productive southern East China Sea, we measured OMP by incubating phytoplankton‐rich surface waters and found that CH4 ...

Results towards the selection of OMP‐18rev

open access: yes, 2021
Following the declaration of Exceptional Circumstances for anchovy in 2020, an anchovy‐only revised Operational Management Procedure (OMP‐18rev) is to be agreed and used to set the anchovy Total Allowable Catches until a new joint sardine‐anchovy OMP can

The Impact of Oyster Mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) on the Baking Quality of Rye Flour and Nutrition Composition and Antioxidant Potential of Rye Bread

open access: yesFoods
This study aimed to evaluate the use of oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) powder (OMP) for producing rye bread. The raw materials were low-extract rye flour and OMP, which were analyzed in terms of their nutritional and health-promoting qualities ...

Tracing the origins of metalimnetic methane in a stratified large lake: Insights from high‐resolution mapping and three‐dimensional hydrodynamic modeling

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Letters, Volume 11, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Methane (CH4) accumulation in the oxic metalimnion is a common yet poorly resolved feature of deep stratified lakes. In Lake Geneva, lateral transport from the Rhône delta has been suggested but lacks spatial validation. Here, we quantify the role of lateral advection in shaping metalimnetic CH4 using high‐resolution in situ CH4 measurements ...

Decisional Conflict in Palliative Head and Neck Cancer Patients

open access: yesOtolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, Volume 175, Issue 1, Page 145-155, July 2026.
Abstract Objective Head and neck cancer (HNC) patients may be subject to decisional conflict (DC). However, research on DC in the palliative phase remains limited. The primary objective of this study was to assess and describe DC among patients with HNC in the palliative phase and explore the association between clinically significant DC and quality of

A new OMP for West Coast rock lobster: preliminary results

open access: yes, 2023
OMP-2007 re-cast which has been used to set the TAC for the west coast rock lobster resource for the previous four years is now due to be updated. This OMP was based on recent trends in Trap, Hoop and FIMS indices, as well as somatic growth rate trends ...

Physiological and Metabolic Responses Triggered by Omeprazole Improve Tomato Plant Tolerance to NaCl Stress

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2018
Interest in the role of small bioactive molecules (< 500 Da) in plants is on the rise, compelled by plant scientists' attempt to unravel their mode of action implicated in stimulating growth and enhancing tolerance to environmental stressors.
