Separation of omphalopagus twins
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1982The study and successful separation of a pair of omphalopagus twins weighing 1690 g at birth is presented. The test of greatest usefulness was an oral glucose tolerance test that demonstrated an absence of parasitism. Subsequently, it was found that the twins had a joined liver but separate GI and GU tracts.

Inseparable Thoraco-Omphalopagus Twins
Conjoined twins occur at the rate of 1 in 50 to 200,000 live births, and 75% of these share the thorax (thoracopagus) or the thorax and upper abdomen (thoraco-omphalopagus), resulting in cardiac and hepatic sharing. Antenatal diagnosis can delineate the cardiac anatomy and provide parental counseling on whether separation is possible after birth.

Minimally Conjoined Omphalopagus Twinning: A Case Report

In some instances of omphalopagus, joined attachments are limited to the intestine and bladder. Eight cases like these, that are also called minimally conjoined twinning, have been reported before. This article describes a set of twins

Necrotizing enterocolitis in omphalopagus conjoined twins
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1999Female omphalopagus twins underwent laparotomy on the second day of life after an antenatally diagnosed high jejunal bowel obstruction. Bowel resection and choldocho-enterostomies were performed. Despite recovery from laparotomy, the development of severe necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in one twin led to rapid deterioration and the death of both ...
