Measuring Product Line Architectures
2002Software application families and their accompanying architectures (also referred to as product line architectures or PLAs) are a promising area in which the potential of software component reuse can be fully realized. Evolving such application families necessitates making informed architectural decisions. Among industry and research communities, it is

On‐line measurement and analysis of yeast flocculation
Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1997The ability of yeast to flocculate is important in different separation processes, especially in the beer industry. Because of the regulation purposes, there is a need for online monitoring. With the presented measuring set-up, consisting of a peristaltic pump, a photometer, and a computer, it is possible to determine the onset of flocculation as well ...

To a large extent, PSD analyses are executed off-line in an analytical laboratory. The advantage of the laboratory is that a variety of techniques, trained analysts and standard operating procedures (SOP’s) are available. Moreover, both instruments and procedures can be checked at regular time intervals, so that good quality assurance is possible.

Advances in on-line appearance measurement
IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1980Abstract Glossmeters, opacimeters, colorimeters and spectrophotometers are well established and accepted as reliable and repeatable instruments for the measurement of appearance properties in the laboratory. As a natural evolution, efforts to apply the same kind of measurement to online control of these properties was begun over 20 years ago, and is,

the method to be used in measuring pipe lines formed of pipes with caulked lead or other special joints is described in clauses 111, 113, 114, 115 and 117 of the Standard Method of Measurement of Civil Engineering Quantities. These clauses are reproduced in full accompanied by explanatory notes.

Colour is not a property which is a physical part of things we see, it is simply the effect of visible light waves bouncing off or passing through the numerous objects in its path. The colour of an object is determined by several things, the characteristics of the light source, the way the object reflects, absorbs or transmits the light waves striking ...

Transmission-line Measurements
1989Traditionally many transmission-line measurements have been based on steady-state sinusoidal excitation. In such measurements of standing-wave ratio or reflection coefficient a comparison is made between the transmitted wave and the sum of the reflected waves.

Measure and Category on the Line
1971The notions of measure and category are based on that of countability. Cantor’s theorem, which says that no interval of real numbers is countable, provides a natural starting point for the study of both measure and category. Let us recall that a set is called denumerable if its elements can be put in one-to-one correspondence with the natural numbers 1,
