Design Principles and Sizing Approach of Unfired Once-Through Steam Generators

Volume 4: Cycle Innovations; Fans and Blowers; Industrial and Cogeneration; Manufacturing Materials and Metallurgy; Marine; Oil and Gas Applications, 2011
One of the key elements of increasing the thermal efficiency of a combined cycle power plant (CCPP) is to improve the design and operation of the heat recovery steam generators (HRSG) utilized in the cycle. Once-through steam generator (OTSG) is a new technology introduced for heat recovery in power systems.

Helical Pitch Optimization of Double-Tube Once-Through Steam Generator

Volume 2A: Thermal Hydraulics, 2014
Once-Through Steam Generator (OTSG) is widely used in nuclear reactor system due to its advantages of compactness. The heat transfer performance of DOTSG is studied in this paper. In order to minimize the DOTSG volume and reduce the pressure drop of coolant, the pitch of inner helical tube is optimized with Pontryagin Maximum Principle (PMP).

Assessment of Boiling Heat Transfer Correlations for Once-Through Steam Generators

Nuclear Technology, 1988
A steady-state simulation of a 19-tube model once-through steam generator (OTSG) was performed with the TRAC-PF1 thermal-hydraulic computer code. The predicted steady-state results were not in good agreement with the experimental data. Underprediction of the observed superheat temperature was obtained.
