SUMMARY Dermal microfilariae recovered from specimens obtained from umbilical and cervical sites of cattle infected with adult Onchocerca gutturosa alone or with adults of O gutturosa and O lienalis were measured and compared with uterine microfilariae obtained directly from gravid female worms of each species. Uterine microfilariae of O gutturosa were

Morphology ofOnchocerca volvulus
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1972Onchocercal nodules from 18 Africans were studied. Each nodule contained adult worms of Onchocerca volvulus . Male and female worms were reconstructed from serial paraffin sections, and the morphologic features of the adult worms and microfilariae described.

Molecular variation in Onchocerca spp.
Acta Tropica, 1993Over the past two decades there has been an upsurge of interest in defining morphological, immunological, biochemical, biological and genetic differences between species of Onchocerca to provide solutions to practical problems associated with finding models and epidemiological tools to assist with control of human onchocerciasis.

Immunohistological studies on Onchocerca volvulus paramyosin
Parasitology Research, 2009Paramyosin is a muscular protein exclusively found in invertebrate species, which has been proposed as a vaccine candidate against infections with Schistosoma mansoni and Brugia malayi. Here, we report the studies on the distribution of Onchocerca volvulus paramyosin, designated OvPmy, in different O.

Biopsy of Onchocerca Nodules in the Igbos of Nigeria
The American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1975The occurrence of Onchocerca nodules in the Igbos of Nigeria was studied in a biopsy series. There were 90 cases in approximately 5,000 biopsies received in 4.5 years at a central laboratory. The prevalence of infection in males was 1.5 times that of females. The two youngest patients were both aged 3 years; the oldest was approximately 70 years.
