Ultrastructural studies on the microfilaria of Cardianema sp. Alicata, 1933 (Nematoda; Onchocercidae)

International Journal for Parasitology, 1973
Abstract The ultrastructure of the sheath, cuticle and hypodermis of the microfilaria of Cardianema sp, is described from electron micrographs of in utero - and blood-stages. The trilaminiar sheath invests the microfilaria throughout development in utero and it acquires a superficial coat after the microfilaria enters the blood stream of its ...

Scanning electron microscopic study of adults and microfilariae ofDunnifilaria meningica (Filarioidea: Onchocercidae)

Parasitology Research, 1989
Dunnifilaria meningica from naturally infected Neotoma micropus in Mexico were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The anterior end of adults is surrounded by two pairs of buccal and two pairs of cervical papillae. Two amphidial openings lie near the central mouth opening, surrounded by a thick cuticular ring.

Histochemical distribution of esterases in adult Onchocerca fasciata (Filarioidea: Onchocercidae).

Tropical medicine and parasitology : official organ of Deutsche Tropenmedizinische Gesellschaft and of Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ), 1994
The localization and distribution patterns of non-specific esterases (NSE) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activities in adult female Onchocerca fasciata (Filarioidea: Onchocercidae) have been determined using enzyme histochemical techniques. NSE activity was highest in the hypodermis and mild to moderate in the somatic musculature and uterine ...
