Malignant lymphomas in transplantation patients: a review of the world experience. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Malignant lymphomas developed in 9 renal homograft recipients treated at widely separated transplantation centers. The development of these tumors appears to be an indirect complication of organ transplantation and/or the measures taken to prevent ...

5′tRF‐GlyGCC Promotes Breast Cancer Progression via LDHA‐Mediated Glycolysis and Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
5’tRF‐GlyGCC promotes breast cancer malignancy by binding to LDHA. This interaction, facilitated by FGFR1 and LDHA phosphorylation, enhances glycolysis. Additionally, 5’tRF‐GlyGCC/LDHA signaling recruits and polarizes macrophages into a pro‐tumor M2 state via CCL7, thus remodeling the tumor microenvironment.

Organismic Supercategories: III. Qualitative Dynamics of Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1971
The representation of biological systems by means of organismic supercategories, developed in previous papers, is further discussed. The different approaches to relational biology, developed by Rashevsky, Rosen and by Baianu and Marinescu, are compared ...

The Evolutionarily Conserved TPM1 Super‐Enhancer Drives Skeletal Muscle Regeneration via Mechanotransduction Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By integrating biomechanical and epigenetic cues, the evolutionarily conserved TPM1 super‐enhancer drives myogenesis via TEAD4‐mediated chromatin looping. This mechanism produces species‐specific outputs (linear TPM1 mRNA in mice and CircTPM1 in bovine) that activate PI3K/AKT mechanotransduction and the MYH10/MYL3 axis to execute cytoskeletal ...

KSHV-Mediated Angiogenesis in Tumor Progression

open access: yesViruses, 2016
Human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), also known as Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), is a malignant human oncovirus belonging to the gamma herpesvirus family. HHV-8 is closely linked to the pathogenesis of Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) and two other B-cell

Pan-cancer Alterations of the MYC Oncogene and Its Proximal Network across the Cancer Genome Atlas [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Although theMYConcogene has been implicated incancer, a systematic assessment of alterations ofMYC, related transcription factors, and co-regulatoryproteins, forming the proximal MYC network (PMN),across human cancers is lacking.

Biomechanical Phenotyping Reveals Unique Mechanobiological Signatures of Early‐Onset Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies a unique physical signature of colorectal cancer in younger adults: their tissues are mechanically stiffer than those in older patients with the same cancer. Furthermore, stromal remodeling in early‐onset colorectal cancer promotes epithelial mechanotransduction and proliferation, showing how mechanical alterations in the tissue ...

Multiple Myeloma Exemplifies a Model of Cancer Based on Tissue Disruption as the Initiator Event

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2018
The standard model of multiple myeloma (MM) oncogenesis is based on the genetic instability of MM cells and presents its evolution as the emergence of clones with more and more aggressive genotypes, giving them surviving and proliferating advantage.

PathSTORM: a road to early cancer detection

open access: yesMolecular & Cellular Oncology, 2020
Disruption of chromatin structure could enable early carcinogenesis by facilitating malignant transformation. Using stochastic optical reconstruction microscopy optimized for pathological tissue (PathSTORM), we uncovered a gradual decompaction of higher ...

Spectrum of malignancies among the population of adults living with HIV infection in China: A nationwide follow-up study, 2008-2011. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BackgroundAlthough increasingly studied in high-income countries, there is a paucity of data from the Chinese population on the patterns of cancer among people living with HIV (PLHIV).MethodsWe conducted a nationwide follow-up study using routinely ...
