One dimensional consolidation under cyclic loading
International Journal of Geotechnical Engineering, 2012AbstractWhen cyclic loads are applied to the soil, the deformation may increase significantly depending upon the magnitude of load and nature of soil. Cyclic loads such as those induced by traffic on motorways and railways, ocean waves are long-term, sometimes including drainage during or after cyclic loading, resulting consolidation.

One-Dimensional Consolidation in Triaxial Cell
Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division, 1970The one-dimensional consolidation of the test specimens in a triaxial cell is often used to simulate field conditions. During this process, the clay particles acquire an orientation which endows the material with cross anisotropic properties. The design of a pneumatic system which performs such an operation automatically is described herein.

One-dimensional consolidation with uncertain properties
Canadian Geotechnical Journal, 1992Different reasonable probability distributions can be assigned for the coefficient of consolidation, C. But if no more than the first few probability moments of the excess pore pressure and of the degree of consolidation which are functions of C are of concern, it is advantageous to use a simpler, distribution-free method for matching probability ...

Discontinuum Mechanics of the One-Dimensional Consolidation of Soils
2021This paper deals with the one-dimensional primary consolidation of saturated fine-grained soils, described as a discontinuum process. The theory is based on two foundations: the ideal discrete space-time structure of matter, and the principle of the mean value. Discontinuous matter is described by the influence domain of a point or node.

Solution of some nonlinear one‐dimensional consolidation problems
Communications in Applied Numerical Methods, 1987AbstractThe analysis of nonlinear one‐dimensional consolidation of clay is considered. An algorithm is presented which allows nonlinear clay parameters to be accommodated in the prediction of both the magnitude and the rate of consolidation. The method is based on the finite element solution of Biot's coupled consolidation problem, together with a ...

Finite Elements for One-Dimensional Consolidation
1995In this chapter the finite element method for the solution of problems of one-dimensional consolidation is presented. The purpose is to develop a method for the analysis of consolidation of a soil consisting of several layers having different properties.
